Mavs/Raptors

Post#1 » by Astaluego » Fri Apr 12, 2024 7:58 am

MAVS
In:B.Brown/#31
Out:Green/Powell/Hardy/Future SRP

Mavs get the most experienced player with championship experience in Brown..while they get a pick in this Draft,..something that Nico Harrison (GM Mavs) seems to value and know..I like the chances of finding some lost gem in this so underrated Draft...I like Justin Edward in that range...I even think Nuñez is going to be a very solid backup PG

RAPTORS
In:Green/Hardy/Powell
Out:B.Brown+#31

The Raptors do this if they keep their selection...Green is a prototypical player that the Raptors would like, Athletic, with a lot of energy and can defend "similar to Brown"..better shooter but more crude and incomplete, he fits perfectly into their timeline.. He also takes a prospect in Hardy in a position of need...and as a reward for the local "legend" D.Powell...excellent professional and type of locker room...expert in absorbing blows to the face and good type of roll ...they will love him...if they don't interpret him too much

I think the Raptors will only trade Brown for some pick compensation. They already have a bunch of mediocre wings like Agbaji, Freeman Liberty along with higher ceiling wings like Dick/Quickey/Barrett that they are trying to develop. I just don't see them adding Hardy/Green into the mix.

Agreed. If Dallas really wants Brown, they can send along THJ (to be rerouted) and a 2nd (25 Tor).

Yeah this is a pass from the Raptors. They are not trading Brown AND the 31st pick like that.

I do like Brown on the Mavs though. Here’s an alternate try:

Brown
for
Green, OMax, TOR ‘25 2nd + salary filler

Seems like too much for one year of Brown. I'd pass, and I don't think Raps want the OP either. Doesn't appear to be a good fit.

I agree that’s probably too much. Mavs like OMax, so keep him.

Maybe there’s a 3 team trade where a vet team is interested in Tim Hardaway?

Dallas gives Hardaway + Hardy + TOR 2nd
Toronto gives Brown
3rd team gives bad contract + 2nd?

I don’t think Brown will be positive value if he is kept at his current contract. So I don’t expect him to be kept.

The OP is a yes for Dallas.. or at least IMO is a pretty easy yes.. And the counters are pretty easy no’s.

This feels the most reasonable. Though I agree with jay that Brown isn't worth what Indy knew was a bloated contract(Was always going to be a one year deal for them barring something shocking) so this is really more about Toronto getting a stopgap SG and getting paid a good 2nd for taking on his money. Because I expect Brown's option to not be picked up. I don't see this robust market some do.
