Why were the Bulls trying to win this playing starters 40+ minutes for a meaningless game?

Re: Bulls @ Knicks: Game 82
With the Knicks as my 2nd team and the Bulls already being set, I was all over the place in terms of what I wanted from the game other than just nobody getting injured. In the end, the Knicks definitely should have tried to lose (as if that's a thing with Thibs), but playing PHI with Embiid back vs. Indy is definitely not the preference. I hated the Bulls playing our starters so many minutes in this one, but I guess the game did have a playoff vibe with the 2 teams playing 3 times in the past week and the fact that it had meaning to NY.
Great games by pretty much everyone but Craig.
I'm still baffled by who stole Coby's 3pt mojo.

But if one or more of the starters gets injured during this game they lose more than just pride.
Should have rested the guys again, winning this game would have had zero implications to their play-in seeding.
The season will be over soon...
Go Bulls... I guess!? Right!?

Soon , we'll likely win Hawks losing the next game.

Re: Bulls @ Knicks: Game 82
I couldn't watch the game today, but is there any reason we played our main guys heavy minutes and put them at risk of injury heading into the play-in when this game, from my understanding, had no bearing on our play-in/playoff standings?
Seems like it would have been smarter to either not play our main guys at all or play them 15-20 minutes to keep them in rhythm while also keeping them fresh and injury free.
Moot point since no one got hurt, but seems like a needless risk to me. Hopefully they're not gassed heading into the play-in, DeMar and Coby especially. They've had an absurd workload this season.

That, and as I said last game, he seems noticeably more athletic than he was last year as well.

Thibs and Billy are similar in that regard.

Someone needs to bump the preseason win prediction thread. I don't remember what I predicted, but probably around 39.

That doesn't track. Last game we sat everyone of importance except Coby and he didn't even play 30 minutes that game.

Re: Bulls @ Knicks: Game 82
Billy played everyone because he needs them to have a sense of urgency in the do-or-die game. Can't let them rest up and then get punched in the mouth against Atlanta. Imagine how bad that would be if he sat everyone for two games and then we get blown out?
*And now you guys have me defending Billy Donovan.. wtf

I thought that was pretty fun. If DDR's shot had gone in, it would have been better - but oddly, because their seeding was set and NY's wasn't, and with all the players allegedly opting in to playing the game and keeping their routine going, and with the more important stuff coming up, it felt like I had the ability to just watch this one game and not care about what it meant for draft position, seeding, pressure on AK, or anything else, without conflicting emotions. Hadn't watched a game in a minute, and given what the Bulls are missing and how good NY is, it was an enjoyably competitive (cough) game to watch while doing the laundry.

Yeah or at least play them less. Game against Atlanta is 3 days later so technically it’s fine, but risked injury for no reason at all.

At the end that’s why we watch for competitiveness and entertainment.
