Depending on workouts i could see this. A young big is the perfect candidate for the second round exception:

"The exception allows teams to sign second-round picks to a three-year deal, with a first-year salary worth up to the minimum for a player with one year of service, or a four-year deal, with a first-year salary worth up to the minimum for a player with two years of service."

Last years exception contract structure were:

3 year contract

Y1- $1.8M
Y2- $1.9M
Y3- $2.2M (Team)

4 year contract

Y1- $2M
Y2- $2.1M
Y3- $2.2M
Y4- $2.4M (Team)

The exception does not come out of the $7.7M room, $12.4M non-tax or $5M tax midlevel.

Good that he's #39. Likley won't jump too high. I would love him at #17.

#6 Reed
#17 Chomche
#31 DaSilva/CMB/Carrington/Furphy

I'd also be cool to trade #31 for any future 1st pick.

Chomche seems like a 31st pick rather than a mid-first round pick...just my opinion.

This board is high on a lot of guys that you believe are legit star level talent but end up in the 2nd round.

From what little is out there, he outperformed starter Khaman Maluach at the Nike Hoops Summit.

Really, think he's the 2nd C prospect behind Sarr based on potential.

Chomche looks more nimble than Ware, bigger than Tyler Smith, younger than Ivisic, better outside shooter than Clingan or Edey. He has all the tools to be like Hakeem Olajuwon that shoots 3's.

That's fair. If his shot doesn't come around it will severely limit his play in the NBA. He hardly sucks as the guy in the video was saying though.

It's more likely we pick 1st overall than 6th so these predictions with us staying at 6 are kind of unwarranted.

Potential sleeper at 31. Not sure he's 6'9.

Yeah, people might as well just post their entire top 6 instead of assuming who is off the board at 6 specifically.
Tre Mann should have been a Top 10 Pick in the 2021 Draft

First time watching a clip on Chomche. He seems extremely raw, especially on offense. Reminds me a few years ago watching clips of
Usman Garuba. I feel like everyone was hyping Garuba's defense to be one of the best in the draft and that he could hit a 3. Sure, it's not a perfect comparison, considering Garuba's also shorter...but I'm always a bit wary when they look this raw. Gives me the 2 years away from 2 years away type vibe.

I can just see a scenario where Darko is very familiar with his game and has convinced the front office that he’s worth tanking for. I think there’s a high likelihood this guy is a spur or wizard if they pick before us.

If we stay at 6, I can see Risacher falling to 6 if the spurs don’t take him.

I don’t want anything to do with Rob dillingham or Edey. The former is allergic to defense and we’re already terrible at it. The latter is a bad fit and a bust imo.

I do believe we will keep our top 6 pick. I don’t entirely believe the league doesn’t rig the draft a bit and this is a perfect year for the league to cut us some slack - no sure fire star.

No, but Masai was integral to helping the family file the adoption papers for their family dog so the loyalty is there.

While I can see Masai giving him a promise at 31 I don't think it's us. I like Chomche quite a bit (compared him to Bam with a three), but if we don't keep our pick I imagine Masai goes safe and ready to produce over raw and high risk.

If we keep 6, that gives us more security adding a guy like Holland, Castle, or Williams which would then allow us to more comfortably swing for the fences at pick 31. That's kind of why I wish we hadn't traded for Agbaji. Having an extra pick would have opened up a lot of scenarios for us.

The pick was for Agbaji and Kelly O. Also don't think the Raptors want to go into the offseason with 4 rookies on their payroll.

I've said it a number of times, Chomche is incredibly raw. Like Bruno level - seriously. He is decent at picking out cutters from the top of the key and can make the occasional three, but just doesn't seem to understand the game yet. His feel, touch, ballhandling, defensive positioning and awareness are downright bad. His measurements are also just OK for a run/jump center with little else to his game. If we draft him I struggle to see how he gets minutes. IMO it would be a waste of a potentially valuable pick. I've seen way to many of these raw centers come an go.

That's never happened, someone not getting their shot off in the NBA, + he's 6'9
