The CBA protects the players and gambling affects the integrity of the game.

Remember it.

Innocent until proven guilty. If my brother commits a crime that doesn’t make me guilty.

In this case he deserves a ban, it was not just him gambling. He was tanking prop bets that were for him so his friends and probably he could win money. That is so messed up.
So is beating your wife and leaving her battered and bruised. Just want Silver to admit that he thinks that deserves 2nd chances but addiction to gambling doesn't.
You're right about beating your wife, but this was NOT a gambling ban and you just repeated it again. I just explained he was purposely doing his job bad.

He even bet on his own team to lose....... lol
Bruh... raptors have been openly tanking for half of the year. We all bet on them to lose because that was the organizational goal lol.

Fans can bet on games, players can’t.
Gambling being legalized and at legit sports books helps them catch this kind of thing. It’s better than it being on the black market.

Yeah I'm sure he doesn't care at all that he's now banned from the highest level of the sport that he spent his whole life working on and is now known as the Pete Rose of the NBA. I'm sure he'll just go on with his daily life like nothing happened.
I'm not even sure any Euro or NBL teams will touch him. He's essentially lost his only source of income. Dude is ****. He's going to have to start over from square one in life. That's... not good.
Gambling is so common-place now, on *everything*, that no team is going to risk their integrity for a maybe above-average, oft-injured talent who was caught point-shaving red-handed.
Yesterday it was revealed that he had the whole betting operation running, seems that was always his biggest source of income. That said, he is probably banned from making bets altogether, easier to bypass that ban, but if he's caught, would get into more trouble. Guy might just need to get a regular job, terrible terrible fate lol.
Yes, I agree that no team probably touches him now.

Dude it takes 5 minutes to read the articles and tweets from Woj. It's clearly a gambling ban as evidenced by the life time term man.![]()
Those who think that he didn't deserve a life time sentence, need to seriously think about what he did. He not only screwed his team but this completely messes with the integrity of the game and most importantly all these new betting partners that are just pumping money into the league. His bets have all been confirmed and investigated and it's much easier to ban a fringe NBA player than a marquee franchise player like Bridges (who took his punishment with the no contest and still dealing with the consequences).
ChipotleWest wrote:He was barely an NBA player, probably wouldn't have been in the league in two years anyway. Not sure how much he cares.

I get it. I really do, but it's still funny (to me at least) that every sports league is shoving betting in the fans' faces every commercial break (and sometimes even during games), but also trying to take a moral stance here by punishing a player for betting.

They are not punishing player for betting, players can bet, it is legal hobby. He is getting punished for fixing his own games for betting reasons, do you really do not see the difference?
