So me?
Your statement was that he was saving Toronto sports as predicted. Right now his OPS is way over his average ops with AZ and prior five seasons. A prediction based on the last two months of last season to AZ like statistics would make sense as one possible outcome. But predicting he would save Toronto sports? That's a stretch you ever made that prediction.
Randle and his Secondary Account "Sensi" was singing Varsho's praises last April 2023, and another poster called Varsho "mini Mike Trout" last April. Varsho was a very good hitter for around two weeks in April 2023, and then was below average hitter the other 5 months. Give credit where it is due, Varsho had a solid last week after a difficult couple of weeks to start the year.
If he can prove me wrong and continue this for the next few months, I will gladly eat crow on Varsho. Varsho was not an above average hitter the last few months of 2023. Check out his OPS, On Base Percentage and BA each of those months, and it was below average to terrible.
No need to exaggerate and call him "above average" in the last few months of 2023 when we can read the data. However, this is a new year. If Varsho has discovered something with his swing, and can be a solid contributor offensively, I will be the first one to say it on here that the trade was not a gross overpay which I said it was.
Yep, I remember that first stretch which quickly fizzled out. Although this year Varsho is also displaying more power than last april which is even more reason for optimism.
And to be fair, the last two months of the season did see above average SLG. Couldn't find the OPS data by month but I'll trust you on that.
I too will retract my posts that Varsho is a lost cause offensively if this continues. Seemed unlikely he would turn it around due to previous seasons. And yes, on this team, I'd be content with a 750ish OPS at season's end although, whatever, shoot for the moon.
