In my opinion, the Celtics winning 64 games and beating every team in the NBA by 7+ games then not have a finalist in any category for season ending awards is in one word - Ridiculous.

While what you say is true, think of it as a compliment. They got to where they are by putting the team first.

Not really. When you have a loaded roster, no one player stands out.
They still haven't decided finals MVP. That's the award that really matters. The rest is just a publicity stunt.

That's why they should be rewarded. You can make a case for Joe COY, Tatum MVP and D White for DPOY as far as finalist in my opinion.

Our loaded top 6 consists of
a superstar who people don't even put in the top 5,
a fringe AS-type guy who's been helped by team success boost,
a 34 year old who's made 2 AS teams in his career,
a guy who people thought was worse than 2028 pick swap,
a guy salary dumped just a couple seasons ago and was on nobody's radar, and
a 36 year old who was salary dumped twice three seasons ago,
plus the bench that everyone said was a weakness.
We are not talking about Lebron, Wade and Bosh here.

CoY is a curse anyway. I think it’s only been 3x in the last 50 seasons that a team whose coach won the award went on to win the title in the same year. Pop has won it what, twice? Phil Jackson once. Sloan maybe never?

If our guys want respect/recognition, win the whole damn thing.

Knicks showing on the Jumbotron a potential matchup vs the C's for the E Conf Finals!? LMAO talk about getting wayyyyy ahead of themselves. Fans Chanting "We Want Boston" "We Want Boston", how about you worry about the task at hand here. Hoping Philly takes game 2 tonight, as ESPN radio will be "Pure Gold" in the morning !

It'd be hard for the Sixers to win if Maxey can't play.

Celtics players, wait til you win the whole thing before you get respect, said no one to any other good player before it.

Tatum shouldn’t have to win for his respect as he has consistently helped send MVP home every season before conference finals! The same MVP who has never been out of the second round!

Should Tatum win MVP? not in my opinion, but one of these last few years he should have been heavily considered and a finalist easily!

I don’t care if Luka is an offensive maestro! Tatum is great offensively, he’s a master of team impact, AND he’s been an excellent defender while Luka is bad! I don’t care what people say, Luka is fighting for average defender at best! Tatum has consistently dominated in plus minus with ANY AND EVERY lineup you can imagine, from players who might not stand out in the g or barely hanging onto the NBA. He can fit seamlessly in with great players and still stand out but not just individual success (Luka) but team success! I’d bet my left …. that Tatum would have more success with Luka’s teams over the last season than Luka would with Tatum’s! Style of play would matter with our team, no way would our other top 5 enjoy playing with Luka! Maybe one of them would be okay, but you couldn’t swap him and Tatum!

That was Gollum and his ring obsession talking. Serious fans and knowledgeable media people respect him plenty and have talked about Tatum (and the Celtics) highly. Even Mazzulla has gotten love from the talking heads, some of whom were low on him coming into this year.

I still don't think that it was egregious to leave out Tatum and Mazzulla out of the top 3 in their respective categories based on how people vote on these things. And objectively speaking, I don't think he's been a top 3 player in any regular season of his career so far.

Seen it’s start but now it’s carried by others in media. Even heard Steven A mention it.

How hasn’t he been top 3? Points, DEFENSE, few assists and rebounds, PLUS MINUS (team used to underperform without him). Defense just doesn’t get the credit it deserves. He has consistently been one of the best 2way guards in the game! Name one person you can tell Luka to go and check without exhausting other options. JT has essentially shut down KD and still got his before!

Maybe it is green goggles but I doubt it because other folks see it (media go to hell), as he’s consistently high in jersey sales.

SAS is not to be taken seriously or even listened to.

Advanced or raw stats don't back up Tatum's case as #3 in voting. He's somewhere around 7-10. He's really getting docked for the role he's had to play with this new team. Lower usage, less touches, fewer opportunities to take over and run offense. I don't vote but I would have it as 1. Jokic 2. SGA 3. Giannis 4. Tatum 5. Doncic. It also hurt that Cs eased up once they snatched the 1-seed while Doncic was still playing for seeding and had Mavs on a late burst.

68-win team with JT on. 71-win team with him off.

I know it doesn't work that way. But funny how you no longer quote the OFF part like in previous seasons. :P Would still have Tatum as Celtics offensive fulcrum over Brunson leading a bunch of tryhards though.

I’d post off if it showed anything lol. If people want to hold that against him, fine. But the people claiming superteam merchant? Nah lol. Not when he’s carrying lineups just as much as he ever has.
