We lost 2 double digit leads going into the 4th but had already coughed them up by the final minute, yes. Equally bad but not quite the same.

We also were up 4 with 14 seconds left and somehow lost.

And the Bucks almost did the oppsite to the Heat in the bubble, Bucks down 113-109 and the Heat had the ball.

Bucks tied it at 114.

Jimmy got a phantom foul call with 0.0 left on the clock and made freethrows to win it. I'm STILL mad about that.

Amos Barshad: "So you got a job, a place to live, a license? What’s left?"

Giannis: “Nothing. Just get a ring now.”

Yeah, that gets me mad still, too. It’s the worst call I’ve ever seen. I still can’t believe it. Also, if the bucks win that game, it may have changed the entire series for us. Just brutal.

Man oh man that Athletic players poll is rough on Giannis.

Distant 5th in MVP, not even on defender list, 9th on Start from Scratch behind LEBRON, tatum, embiid. ant. YIKES.

Players just don't seem to like Giannis.

Not just players. He's become the villain. It's hilarious to me all the excuses people are making for Embiid and others when Giannis also hasnt been able to stay healthy the last couple postseasons but is taking strays everywhere, despite carrying his team to a championship.

Doesn't do interviews, doesn't hang with guys not on his team.

Still surprising, but not without explanation.

I think it just shows the power of discourse and how it’s framed.

We were expected to be a top team, maybe around 60 wins, and we fell far short of that.

With that, whenever the bucks have been talked about, it’s been through a lens of disappointment, and that definitely extends to Giannis. For Giannis, he’s kinda the forgotten man, and when brought up, the disappointment rises.

____

Outside this season, though, I do think he’s likely the most disrespected star of his generation, maybe even the last 25 years. I think a lot of that has to be with his skillset, and that platitudes of discourse have won. So much of the commentating, and online drivel has been about what Giannis can’t do rather than what he can. Then you’ll get other players, like AD, where it will be openly mentioned that he can do everything that Giannis can, but also shoot. It’s a complete underestimation and under appreciating of what Giannis brings to the table.

Some players *can* do what Giannis can do, for a play, for a few minutes, for a quarter. Giannis does it game after game after game. There is no one who combines his physicality, size, and gracefulness. Then there’s his mentality, and unrelenting nature. He’s a singularity.

I'm usually a pretty big "just ignore the national media idiots" guy, but the amount of slander we're seeing for a guy who's already done something that neither Jordan nor Lebron did (win multiple MVP's and a championship before his 27th birthday) deserves to be highlighted, and the accusers mocked into oblivion. It is pretty incredible to see, and I can't really recall anybody with his body of work continually questioned as if he hasn't checked off every box imaginable (MVP's, DPOTY, Finals MVP, All-Star Game MVP) and his legacy already solidified at an age where most Hall of Famers are entering their prime years.

He's also outlasted guys like Dwight Howard at this point. Lots of people predicted that kind of fall-off. Dwight was no longer an all-star by the time he was Giannis' age.

I can’t explain why Giannis is not the darling of the NBA. But F it. We’ve got to see it every day and the fact that this magnificent and inexplicable career has occurred, is more significant than if it has been nationally appreciated.

Nikola's brothers are psycho. Yeeeeesh.

From the gb thread, about them fighting a guy in the crowd last night.

That'll definitely shape you as a person, going through insane torture at the hands of your older brother.

Yeah, like I said during the game, it's funny because its the lakers, but they did get kind of screwed, objectively.

There are players who can do "more" than Giannis can, but he does a couple things so far and away better than anyone else that he's the most dominant player the league has seen since Shaq.

"All he does is drive and dunk." Ok, then stop him. Can't? Sorry. Sucks to be you.

Embiid was blinking like that when he went down with his knee injury in game 1 too. Must be a loose connection.

Definitely something neuro going on. Nerve damage on the trigeminal and facial nerves. He really needs to shut it down between his back and knees. It is probably best for them to get swept so he can see a specialist and figure it out.

But all that makes for absolutely the best fan podcast in the league. The Rights to Ricky Sanchez. If you haven’t listened to it ever, tune it in.

The show is actually better with chaos and turmoil. Spike and Mike chronicle it all.

Butler trips over his own feet then even looks at the ref making the call like "really? Ok."

I've always thought about how crazy it would be for a player in that position to just refuse the free throws and say "nah, it wasn't a foul."
