Team's biggest hole is the scoring from the bench aka THJ's SG spot. Green was never brought in to be a scorer, they said so when he was drafted, i'll never understand why you want him to be just that. He was drafted for something completely different and he played good in that role until he got injured (again) and now is trying to get back into form at the exact wrong time.
So, your comparisons to Maxey or Bane are kinda out of place. If you want to hate on him at least compare him to McDaniels, which is basically the same role Green occupies. If Donnie wanted to go after a pure scorer i'm 100% sure he wouldn't draft Green.
But he should at least be a great defender, he's not even good. We've seen him lose his guys on screens time after time, players like Tyus Jones look like all stars when Green was guarding them. His basketball IQ is amongst the lowest in the league. I had no intention of talking about him for these playoffs, but if people are going to commend him for "great play" I'm going to chime in to speak the truth that he's more a detriment than asset.
Those are valid points of discussion but not compared to guys like Maxey or Bay. Totally different players with different roles.
When it comes to offense, DJJ is more or less a direct replacement for Green (or vice versa). And if you observe DJJ closely, you'll notice his IQ on offense isn't that good either. He'll often drive to the rim and lose the ball or simply miss a layup over 3 guys. He also doesn't take shots when he's open because he doesn't trust his shooting. So... Mavs wanted to upgrade defense and they did but now they suffer on offense against great defensive schemes. That's why this series will be a grind and Luka can't afford to have a horrible shooting night.
We don't need to compare him to anyone to conclude how big disappointment he is. The only reason he's still playable is because what Luka and Kyrie are capable of. Put him in some other team and he's out of the league very quickly.
