Would they feel any differently if they sat him, let him recover all summer, and then blew his knee out on day 1 of training camp or the regular season? He could get hurt again even if he was 100%. So whether he gets hurt or not wouldn't necessarily tell us he was at a higher risk of getting hurt or not...if that makes sense.

I'm trying to stay with you in the discussion :D But I cant if you are going to do this...
Anybody can get injured anytime...The context of this situation is- we are dealing with a player who has an extensive injury history -
who by some accounts is currently 50-65% heathly...The probability of this player picking up another injury is very likely based on his history and based on the fact that both of his legs are NOT stable. Embiid is applying more pressure on his knee/leg that is not injuried. Again, there is an issue with his eye as well.

This is not a debate- he needs to shut it down before something happens and he's gone for all of next year.

I haven't seen much of any details on the knee surgery he had done, but if he had his meniscus trimmed - he's already put the future health of his knee on the line so he could return and play. So, I wouldn't expect him to start acting sanely now.

and maybe that why he's been in this injury cycle since he came into the league...

I'm not sure what went on pre-draft such that the Cavs had to discover he was going to need foot surgery, but I think the pros were very careful in trying to get him right before playing him. Who knows how much longer he'll be able to play, he clearly doesn't want to lose another post-season opportunity.

You don't hear many regrets from former athletes who sacrificed their body and their future health during their career, even those who got paid a puny fraction of what Joel is getting.

Nope. That's just normal Tobias. He disappears when the team needs him more. The 2nd highest player on the team not producing year after year. It's amazing Sixers' fans don't say a peep about him!

I think that was the worst move Philly made giving him 40 million...He can play in the league but he doesnt have "it"

Maybe he knows something we dont...I dont see the ergency when you have a guy like Maxey. Get 100% and come back next year but again, maybe he knows something we dont...

Trust me, as a Cavs fan who was waiting expectantly to hear him announced as the #1 pick going to Cleveland his career is playing out very much like people were expecting after discovering he was red flagged. Hinkie once shared his thought process on drafting Joel and basically just said his upside was too high to ignore at #3 even if his career was injury plagued and short.

What you can't know is whether the athlete will be willing to keep fighting through injuries and going through recovery.

While I agree with you that Joel is taking some major risks, he's presumably focused on the possibility his knee continues to recover and by hook or crook things break the Sixers way for a change.

Why aren't you guys screaming for his throat? Year after year, I watch him underperform when the team needs him. But he has great games when the rest of the team does well. And for a time, he was the highest paid Sixer! but always the 3rd option on offense! It would grate me so much.

thats fair...I dont agree with Embiid for this year only because even if he pulls it off-
whats the chance of him beating the joker and that seasoned denver team.

With that said- if Embiid told me- listen I dont care if I get injured again- I want to play until I cant play anymore- all I would say to him is- its your life- if thats how you feel go for it...

This game 3 is 1000% fixed for the Sixers to win. You could tell right after the littany of mea culpa's in the L2M report. Some of those weren't even correct, but they still deferred to the Sixers. The NBA wants this series to go at least 6 games, if not 7. It will be a parade to the FT line for Philly tonight.

I just want Tobias to be gone bth. Nurse is the first coach who benches him in crunch time. I love it.
