Yeah if Tobias is gonna be on the court they should at least try to get him going.

He went 2-5 from 3 in game 2 it’s not like he’s completely useless.

Pretty crazy how far he’s fallen though, we had complaints about him last playoffs and he still averaged 15.

Embiid doesn't like physical play, and during the playoffs, he feels the referees aren't giving him the calls he deserves based on his status. I interpret Embiid's perspective as follows: if opponents bring a lot of physicality and he responds in kind, they will ultimately lose because, between them, the referees are more likely to favor him due to his status as a "must-watch" player.

If the Knicks decide to fight back, they're going to lose because it will prompt the referees to reduce the physicality of the game by blowing the whistle more often, either to prevent injuries or to prevent a fight. This situation works in Embiid’s favor.

I sincerely hope they don't just lay down. I could see game 5 getting ugly though with the Knicks barraging 3s early and the crowd going crazy.

These are excuses. If he's completely gassed he should not play. Brunson looked really exhausted but the played like a champ.

This is a nice analysis laying out everything people on this board have been saying for years. I am convinced that we would have been better without Tobias in this series. Nurse would have been forced to get creative, motivated guys like Ricky Council would have played. Tobias gets like 8 rebounds but that's nothing considering that guys like OG Anunoby and Hart get like 16,17 each.

And his offensive impotency looks demoralizing to me as a viewer, I can imagine what it does to the team that has to play with such a guy who lacks both real basketball skills and motivation. I assume he still looks great in practice, but he is super soft and lacks skill that would allow him to win a matchup even against a significantly smaller defender in the playoffs.

Huh? Gassed from playing too many minutes means he shouldn't play at all?

It's an observation. I don't think he's capable of handling that many minutes. Nurse has to find another answer to survive minutes without him on the floor, because the diminishing returns you get from Joel when he's on the floor that long cancels that out anyway.

Not sure what the 6 foot guard on the other team being able to handle it has to do with anything.

It would be understandable if this was 2019 when he was in his second or third season. But guys, This is Embiid's 8th season in NBA, at some point it must be tiring to try to find excuse after excuse, this guys always shats the bed in 4th quarter.
