PHX/LAL
Phoenix trades Bradley Beal, 2031 1st
Lakers trade D'Angelo Russell (opted in), Jarred Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent, #55, 2025 LAC 2nd, 2025 LAL 2nd
The Lakers trade for a good 3rd scorer that is badly needed behind LeBron+AD, doing so at negative value due to his contract. The extra 1st brings their package of future 1st rounders to 4, and as a result could be legitimate players to bring in another star should the right opportunity present itself. obviously a big risk with Beal, but it's hard to think of a better fit for him anywhere in the league.
The Suns move on from an insanely redundant and expensive player in Beal, breaking him into smaller role players with varying skillsets. Also some immediate tax savings as well.
Both Beal and Russell would have to consent to this trade, and I think both of them could due to the opposite team being a better fit for their skillsets and the two teams are in pretty similar situations at the moment.

The rare "horrible for both teams" trade.

PHX should hold onto any FRP they still have.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

If you have nothing to actually contribute this is just post-padding and please refrain from posting without providing reasoning why you believe that.

Re: PHX/LAL
Phoenix should do this. It's not perfect, but its about as good as its likely to get. Probably got to top 1 protect that pick.
For the Lakers, I don't hate this if they follow up with a Reeves/assets deal for some defensive help. But if he is still untouchable then I'd not trade depth for Beal.

Re: PHX/LAL
Not an easy sell to bring on that huge salary locked up in LA + Beal needs to sign off a second time on his "no-trade-clause". Why he even was offered one in WASH, is one of the greatest mysteries to me.
For LA, I think they might consider this purely to chop dead weight on the roster, but it doesn't give them flexibility, in fact it reduces it with so much locked up for 3 players (LBJ AD Beal-hypothetical).
Basketball reasons seem ... OK.. .Beal in theory is a good fit, but his recent play isn't a great indicator of that

I like the deal for Phoenix except the included first. Find another player Roddy/Lee/Bol someone other than picks.
The problem I see for LA is they would be stripped of any depth.
Combining this with a trade of Irving/KD makes for a remake of 2 teams and LA still floundering.
Suns get Irving/Kleber from the Mavs, Russell, Vincent, Vanderbilt, Wood from LA
Only keepers here are Irving, Vanderbilt. All others would be available to highest bidder for either late FRPs or better role players.
Suns are remade, younger, and now completely flow through Booker.
Mavs end up with KD/Okogie (Suns) and Reddish (LA). Mavs with Doncic and KD function better than 2 ball dominant PGs.
Lakers get the third scorer in Beal and a filler pieces from the Mavs in some second round picks.

Re: PHX/LAL
I was about to say hell na, but realized we can get the Suns 2031 1st
Still probably a bad deal for us, but maybe a thought if we cant get Trae, Mitchell, or another star
I think we give 0-1 2nds here
This is a get out of jail pass for the Suns
Vando is a great defender when he plays, dont think I want to move him, unless we are able to get someone like Caruso.
Something like TP, JHS, and the suns 1st/our 1st/future protected 1st for Caruso?
Rui for DFS and filler?
Would Dinwiddie come back for the vet min?
Caruso, Beal, DFS, Bron, AD
Dinwiddie, Reaves, Christie?, Wood back?
Have the mle left on a C or a bigger wing?
Or use 1/2 on Spencer and 1/2 on someone else?
We still have all those 1sts left though, would hope we can do something better. Would BKN be enticed to move Bridges?

I personally like it for the Lakers even without the 1st.
Not sold on it for Phx, but also it really all depends where Beal will say yes to going so there is that.

OP is illegal/not enough outgoing salary for lakers. Needs to be within 110% since Lakers will be over 1st apron following this trade. Missing another 6M or so

Re: PHX/LAL
I can actually see this happening.
Beal while not a great fit in PHX would be a better fit with LeBron and AD.
If the Lakers can't get another star I can see them having Beal as a backup plan.

ugh i always forget it's 110% now not 125%. I can't imagine JHS + one of Wood/Reddish/Hayes (if any of them opt in) would be a deal breaker here?

Re: PHX/LAL
Lakers will need to hit the FA market hard post LeBron as they build around AD. Taking on Beal's enormous contract hampers that and his 53 games worth of talent isn't game changing enough to give up future cap space... IMO.

Re: PHX/LAL
Would this work with the 2024 first instead of the 2031 and no seconds?
That’s a deal I think both sides should do.
I’m not even sure if Phoenix can trade the 2031 first as I thought teams over the second apron could not.
But does subbing Rui for JV take care of the salary matching issue?

Replace Suns 31 1st with 24 1st, and I love it for both teams.

Re: PHX/LAL
Lakers pupu-platter for Beal is the only trade I can see
happening for that bum. It would have to be Rui instead of Jared for money reasons unless. Both him & Gabe are bad contracts. Not including the first. Beal’s true value is around $30+ million. Lakers are not getting another star with those assets. Gabe is a bad contract. Overpaid by $10 million. Rui is overpaid by at least 5-8 million.

The deal looks like reasonable value, but can't imagine the Lakers adding a high salary player unless it's Trae or Mitchell.
Don't think they'll consider a deal for Beal or Lavine.
