I think this year was a punt by the FO and ownership since Harden asked out. I imagine they put the ball in Embiid's court to decide if he should return or not but were probably on board with letting him sit out the rest of the year. This summer is going to be the last hurrah of bringing in talent and we'll likely have a 2 year window to win it then try to segue into a Maxey led team and build around him.

I honestly think Durant could be on the table for us. I think, at 35-36, he'd enjoy the idea of being the in-between scorer that we sorely needed Tobias to be. He'd get easier looks with Embiid still presumably on the tail end of his peak. Maxey is one of the best off ball scorers in the NBA.

That said, we'd still need the other 3/4 to be a dog, effort-wise. And we'd still need the final guy to be a creator tbh.

The problem is the size of Durant's contract. We'd have to move Paul Reed to have enough money to throw a competitive contract at a 4th big name but wouldn't have enough to grab, say, Paul George unless he's going for a discount (which he won't).

Harden shows up at the ends of games. He just doesn't show up in elimination games. We'll see how he does if Clips/Mavs goes 7.

We would have been really good with Harden this year. The problem would have been it would have clearly been a 1 year window. Next year I think Harden really falls off a decent amount.

Totally in agreement expect for needing a 4th big name like Paul George. He just doesn't have it anymore and can't stay healthy. Getting Durant would be great and then keep Oubre. Problem again would be the bench.

They just aren’t very good. If we get past Knicks the Pacers will be a cakewalk to the ECF. Going against the best defense to maybe the worst.

Then we get the Celtics with a hobbled Porzingis.... but a healthy Horford. Horford could be 50 and I'd still expect him to shut down a prime Embiid.

First time ever in the NBA a team has won a playoff game without it's top 2 scorers from the regular season.

Ah, that’s more like it. Harden goes 2 for 12 in a pivotal game 5.

Paul George: 19.8 ppg on 42.9% shooting

Please don't let us be the dumb team that gives him his next max contract.

Would have been an intriguing fit like 5 years ago. Now he's washed and he NEVER shows up in the playoffs.

None of these playoff series are watchable, except for Sixers-Knicks.

George looks like the perfect replacement for Harris.........if you want to run it back..again and again and again and again !
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

the "idea" is that George taking on a lesser role and less attention would open things up. Which could make up for his pandemic P stuff lol.

Yeah i think i'm down on the PG train.

Only would get him if nothing else is really available.

Those Clippers picks looking like gold right now, maybe we can use them to get a real stud like Markannen.
