Sitting here with a terrible record, but look at Wemby's stats!
1st in Blocks
2nd in DWS
5th in D-Rating
8th in Rebounds per game
12th in PER
3rd in defensive box plus minus
10th in Total Rebounds
19th in Steals
21/10/3.6 - 46 FG%, 32 3PT %
How do we build a team around this kind of superprospect? Really deserves a debate, but Wemby put on some great games this year. He's tall and has played over 70 + games (good health too). If he progresses to join Joker/Giannis and the Top 5 crowd, we have the centerpiece for a franchise. The Euros at the top aren't easy to beat, but Wemby has it in him to do so.
What do y'all think? Whats our gameplan from here?

Sounds like we hold steady to drafting this season and next. That's our central plan. I still expect at least starting level starters next season. And for there to be like 5-6 new players.
Any acquisitions will not be of the hot trade variety (unless something opportunistic comes along that fits our cost and budget) until we have our core figured out.
Someone on social media pointed out how good Mikal would look on our team. I agree, but why would Nets do it?
So we can forget about the Trae/Murray/Mitchell whispers, fun as they are to talk about. Too costly and we're not in a position blow too many assets on big contract win now players.
We take advantage of opportunities to improve within our rebuild mandate.

Really doesn't feel like we've had this kind of guy since Kawhi. There was Murray and Derozan/Aldridge, but none of them had top 5 type of game in them.
NBAdraft.net has us picking Sarr. These future picks will be crucial IMO and we need our #2 guy as well as a lit supporting cast.
Trade market looks ok - Lavine, Markannen and Trae are all solid lower market stars, but not sure if we need any of them?
Wemby's numbers look good, excited to see how he devs.

It's tricky to know where we'll draft. Still up in the air. Still don't know whether we will end up with one or two lotto picks either.
Lauri would be a quality get (even if he's not known for his D) but I want no part of Lavine and am iffy on Trae.
Does Wemby want to stay at the 5? He said previously he'd prefer not to but he's been so very effective there he can redefine the role or carve out his own.
Is Sarr a 5 or 4? Or can he play either? Can he develop a shot? We desperately need better floor spreading shooters around Wemby.

Mostly, some drama for us. What we do in the offseason is plenty important. There's surrounding pieces... Vassel, Sochan, Tre. What to do with them who really knows. I am sometimes got frustrated this season and wanted to throw my TV away... might as well start Sandro, that was how many wins we compiled. But we gotta stay patient with the rebuild...
Victor's 2nd year dev. is crucial. How he thinks through the game and strategizes his size to beat opponents will be important. Jokic has an all around triple double game to outdo his opponents, Giannis has some size and strength to beat out bigmen, Victor will really need to exploit his blocking game and defense to reach the top.
Draft picks can pan out... this draft isn't all that but there's guys like Buzelis and Sarr. We need some hustle to turn them into good prospects that can support Wemby.
Markannen is the best of that group and he puts up great numbers, almost led Utah to a .500 record before they started a full on tank job. If we roll in that direction, I am interested to see what SA does with one of these. Trae is heavily linked to us, but his defense issues are serious, so I wonder what we'd do with him.

Yeah, safe to say that Victor has lived up to the hype.
This rookie season is basically just the cleavage for what's underneath. What an incredible player. Kid also seems like a super cool and humble person who is going to continue on the Spurs culture for many more years.
It was worth the tank.
