Melo is one of those people that look better with more tattoos because of his gangly body type and features. I mean it won’t age well when he’s 50 but he’s a YOLO person so i doubt he cares lol

Its disturbing. Dude can ink his damn eye balls if he wants. I care about him being a basketball player.
Yeah that’s obsession-level stuff IMO. My question is…where is his dedication to his health, getting stronger, achieving, staying healthy? I don’t pretend to know what he’s doing about it, but what I do see is his obsession with being inked up, wild cars, wild everything. I just wonder if he fits this team, and the culture we need to establish. I think of Brandon Miller, what he’s doing now to get better, and how far he came in his first season. That’s a level of leadership and maturity needed for a young man to become the best. I just don’t see it in LaMelo.
seems like a young guy with too much money to me. if i had his $ at his age, Im sure i would have done similar.
there is room for him to get fitter/stronger and go wild with ink etc. lets hope he's doing both.

I knew there'd be posts about this in here lol. I am 1000% confident that his tattoo choices have zero to do with his on court play.

Re: LaMelephant: The LaMelo Ball Thread (#2)
I guess. I'm just sick of him not playing, and I think its gonna be a trend for the rest of his career. I was a huge fan of his bought 2 jerseys, his rookie, and a buzz city one. This guy just acts like he's so special, though. The whole rare thing and stuff 1 of 1 all that. I should chill on him maybe, but I do want him traded. I'm almost certain he's never gonna be a full-time 70 games at least a year pg that we need.KembaWalker wrote:MugzZo wrote:But they are winners and healthy.SWedd523 wrote:meh LeBron, KD, Tatum, etc are all covered in ink too

I still say all this speaks to where his head is at. I don’t doubt he loves basketball, BUT, what is he DEDICATED to in his life? I only know what we are seeing and it isn’t Melo working his azz off in the gym getting stronger. If he’s doing that let’s see more of it, instead of his human quilt or starburst clothing and cars.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: LaMelephant: The LaMelo Ball Thread (#2)
I think LaMelo is more competitive than people give him credit for. I think he wants to win and I think he impacts winning.
The injuries are frustrating. But there have been a transition in ownership and incentives to remain in the draft that I believe people are omitting from consideration.
A coach who was a terrible fit for his style of play and a poorly constructed roster haven't helped.
Despite all the noise surrounding him, LaMelo remains a preternaturally gifted 6'7 PG who at still only 22 has already been an All-Star.

As I've always said, one of my favorite lines from shorsey...
Of course melo loves to win. I do believe he's competitive growing up with two brothers.
But does he hate to lose?
Everyone loves to win, not everyone hates to lose.

I never agreed with that. It can be both. People make it out to be one or the other for some reason.
I'm just hoping we can put a competent roster around LaMelo for when he is finally healthy. I cringe thinking about all of the playmaking passes he's made to open guys for threes or easy dunks only to watch them brick or fumble.

His tattoo has been all over my social media feed.
Melo is a rockstar who happens to play basketball for 20 games a season. Hell of a life!

If you guys are so thirsty for summer workout clip montages to reassure yourselves we could always trade LaMelo for Ben Simmons

Well neither one plays in actual games so that's probably a wash

Re: LaMelephant: The LaMelo Ball Thread (#2)
LaMelo by EPM was the 15th best offensive player in the NBA this year, that was with him shooting poorly from 3 in comparison to his career. https://dunksandthrees.com/epm
I understand we are frustrated by him being hurt, but the number of players capable of averaging 25/10 in their prime is pretty low. He is underrated on our board in all honesty because he hasn't taken a bad/injured roster to the playoffs.
Had he played all year, we probably still don't make the playoffs considering all the other injuries we had.

The Lamelo hate has gotten to the point of toxicity and people are so quick to forget just how good he is. I still think he is heading towards inevitable superstardom with any type of injury luck, he has had bad luck with injuries so far no doubt.
But its cooler to just **** on him and say he is worthless.

What is a better possibility?
We keep LaMelo and he stays healthy? or we trade him away and find as good as player as him?

nobody doubts his talent. that's never been the debate. the question surround his durability and maturity. those are still very much open questions.
