Would be funny if it happened. Gores doesn't care about Detroit in the same maniacal way that Ishbia and Gilbert does. The two hate each other's guts, might as well hate in the same city

Phoenix traded away all their future picks there is no chance they are trading away Booker they are in win-now mode for the next five years.
Washington has their 2024, 25, 26 ,27, 28, 29, 30 2nd round picks
Brooklyn has their 2025 first round pick.
Brooklyn/Washington can swap for their 2026 first round pick.
Brooklyn has their 2027 first round pick.
Brookyln/Washington can swap for their 2028 first round pick.
Brooklyn has their 2029 first round pick.
Washington/Memphis can swap for the 2030 first round pick.
They have nothing asset wise moving forward.

Yeah, Phoenix’s gambit really hasn’t worked out.

Maybe we should target Claxton in FA. Rim protection at the 5 is a must.

He did hit one more three than Duren this season, let’s get him.

How many more shots did he block though?

There are 48 center minutes. We have Duren and Stewart. Are we getting rid of one of them? If not, why fork out big money to another center?
And if the answer is that we’ll see Stewart at power forward, my reply is…… we’ll continue to stink.

Yeah trade Duren if we did sign Claxton

I hear you - things are just so effed up that it’s hard to gauge things like what Duren can get in a trade. It’s basically us saying, “we don’t want our 21 year old active center, we want this 25 year old active center for 4-5 times the money, now who wants the guy we don’t want in a trade?” Is there a player who hits 40 percent from three that Duren could be traded for? Is there a rebuilding team that would really want Duren?
My simple mind says use the cap space on shooters.

Re: Free Agency
Trading 20 year olds like Duren in favor of signing 25 year olds like Claxton is basically announcing that you are OK with chasing an 8 seed but accept that you will never make a deep playoff run.
I get that fans are desperate for wins. But we shouldn't sacrifice our future for instant gratification.

Not happy with Duren
He's a rim runner without any defense

Agreed. I would like to take one last stab at the lottery and see if a miracle happens and we find a great player.
Trading our pick with Duren or Ivey just seems like an eventual lateral move.
Keep our young dudes. Draft BPA. Sign or trade into our cap space shooters. Shooters everywhere! Lol.
PF definitely has to be a Stretch guy. And then we need another guard to materialize whether that's Grimes, Sasser, draft pick or FA or some combo of all 4 in order to make life easier for Cade and Ivey. Shooters!

It's actually announcing that after 15 years of futility that we've finally gotten serious about playing defense again.
And if Duren continues to not be able to anchor an NBA defense then he has no future here. We already had a center capable of putting up the occasional low impact 20/20 games while giving us no real paint presence defensively... not impressed.
I don't care how many 3 point shooters we add to this roster, if clamping up is not a priority and we're still somehow starting 3-4 bad defenders (including the injury prone guy we're about to max out), then our ceiling remains extremely low.

Re: Free Agency
We need another guy who can get buckets (like even a Ingram). Then a bunch of shooters and to figure out the Duren situation.

A New Orleans beat writer on Ku's podcast the other day suggested Duren + Fournier could net Ingram. I'd do that in a heartbeat and either sign Claxton or Hartenstein or draft Sarr if we were able and be pretty happy with the upgrades.

Just trade the pick+Sasser+Fournier for Ingram. Keep our core 4 assets.

It would take the pick and one of the 4 but its worth it. Duren makes the most sense for them and us considering we have a few potential avenues to replace him

But you only get him for a year unless you give him a max deal.
