no, u just don't understand the defintion of "shooting motion", the initial gather is considered part of the "shooting motion", the shooting motion starts with the gather not with the actual motion to shoot

gather = shooting motion and Luka clearly gatherd prior to the strip attempt

Look at the replay again... Luka clearly STOPS once he gets fouled and loses the ball... then he begins his actual shooting motion again.

You can create a thread with a poll to debate this but I think you'd lose lol

i'm not disputing his "actual shooting motion" starts after the fumble and recovery, i'm arguing that what ur calling a "stop" is in fact his gather, which techincally makes that - his shooting motion. the fact that he fumbles the ball isn't relevant as he's recovering in one motion, exactly as Javie said

like I said, let's do a thought experiment: say the refs don't blow their whistle, do u agree that's a basket?

For it to be considered a gather, he cannot stop his original motion to the basket. When he does that, it ends his continuation. Just think of it as a pump fake.
