I like Clingan. Hell, be in the 7th pick range, but the Grizzlies probably just make the pick. The Grizzlies will likely not pick up Kennard's option.Skybox wrote:ibraheim718 wrote:eyriq wrote:WCJ for Kennard + Memphis 2024 1st?

That’s an awful deal…unless we had something in pocket for our two draft picks. Kennard should be heading into vet min territory as an unathletic one-tool role player. Another year of stockpiling questionable prospects in the G-league would be completely the wrong direction.
Philadelphia won't have money to fill in their roster. If they give PG $40m, that will give them $14m left, Melton will want at least $14m. Then, they'll have to sign 11 minimum deal players.Skybox wrote:pinoynurse wrote:Knightro wrote:I have completely talked myself into Paul George at the full max if he’s willing to take a three year deal.

If you’re PG…wouldn’t you take the same deal with Embiid & Maxey and a roster of crafty old heads? That deal WILL be on the table. Better positional fit, imo.

If you're PG and getting away from Kawhi and his injuries... you wouldn't have second thoughts about joining Embiid? I think that may keep him away from Philly. I still think he ends up staying in LA though. I would give him the max but I doubt he's seriously willing to leave LA which is why I haven't even brought him up... but if he is interested, this summer will be super interesting.

I’m not sure about Trae.
I get the knocks about his defense but I just can't be against adding a high-volume shooting, high-level playmaker to this team.
the thing is, he is high volume 3, but not very good. up and down, career 35%+ from 3. average 3pt % for PG's in the NBA is 37%

Philly has no depth, and embid is always injured.
Orlando has brighter future
Better weather and no income tax
But I could see him going for philly instead of Orlando

There is no chance Paul George heads to Orlando. The Sixers are contending for a title now, the Magic are a few years away. Approaching the age of 35, pretty certain he’d either stay in LA or go to Philly.

I would say
90% chances he stays in LA
9% chances to Philadelphia
1% chances to Orlando

Legitimate question because I admittedly don't watch Trae much - do guys sag off or routinely go under on him to the point where his shooting is atually a major issue? Maybe I'm settling too low but I'm not upset at pg league average at high volume with the playmaking ability he has. I was sick and tired of watching him kill us on those lobs and dimes inside.

are they? Embiid cant stay healthy and while they found Maxey to run with him, they still havent made it far consistently for me to say they are a title contending team

I agree both Monk and Simons are comparable. But if you’re comparing them I think you have to admit that Simons shooting ability is a level above Monk’s.. maybe even 2 levels
While Monk looks like he can be an average defender and it would be a stretch to ever project that for Simons
Both guys seem like they would ultimately play the same role on this team. Best scorer and playmaking guard on the team but not a pure PG
I’d be curious on others thoughts on Monk vs Simons (factoring in the cost to acquire either as well)
Knightro wrote:bigdogdylan5 wrote:Your trading or letting Isaac walk in this scenario? I don’t think that is wrong I am starting to think that might be what should happen. Will see if he will sign a 3 year max but this isn’t leaking by us. This is his agent trying to extract the most money possible from Clippers. I don’t think he wants to leave LA. I can see your point but this is our move because that contract in year 3 and 4 could really be toxic waste. The history of players after 35 is not good. I am 50/50 because we might be out of cap space after this summer. I think the most important years for this core are going to be those last two years. They have to be in contention as everyone will be in prime. If he falls off a cliff then we could be in a tough spot those years.
I would play out next season with Isaac on the roster for 17.8M and see where he is at physically.
If he’s able to play 70+ games and play 25 minutes a night then I would re-sign him for somewhere in the range he makes now and figure out another way to avoid the second apron like dumping Cole.
But if what he was this year is what he’s going to be moving forward (16 MPG over less than 60 games), I’d ask him to take a significant pay cut from the 17.8M he currently makes.
bigdogdylan5 wrote:Might be possible but if he has another good year someone might be willing to overpay him. What are your thoughts on my thoughts with George with those last two years? I don’t want to be that idiot that says this star doesn’t meet our timeline but this is a move playing more for Paolo and Franz next two years and putting the following 2 years in jeopardy.
I am so 50/50 on this because I do feel like beggars can’t be choosers. His game is not totally built on athleticism so he might not age too bad. But as opposed to that using that same money to sign Jones and Monk to big two year deals and preserving trade flexibility might make more sense. If we sign those two guys and someone good comes on trade market you can match salaries way easier. If we sign George and let’s say a big fish hits trade market we would have to combine Suggs and Isaac as opposed to Isaac and like Monk to make it work.
