We all know who HIM is right now and it isn’t Embiid.
Another employee number 25 lover or is this 25 himself still upset on being toss under the bus for not doing something he does with ease during the game but decide to pass up the easiest one in history to avoid winning their biggest game in his career?

You need to be banned for even bringing that up against Joel.

You don’t win MVP by accident. No MVP in NBA history has ever been anything less than a transcendent talent.

This is for sure the best criticism of playoff Embiid. I don't think we should rely on him in closing situations unless he has a clear 1v1 opportunity. Not only due to conditioning but also in general I think perimeter creation is more reliable and less susceptible to defensive scheme. I'd rather design plays for Maxey who can dump the ball to Jo or Tobi if the defense closes in on him (which I have never seen as long as Embiid is also on the court).

Do you really consider him a true superstar if you can't rely on him in closing situations? Can you imagine Denver fans saying this about Jokic?

Was Shaq? Not saying Joel is Shaq, but you couldn't rely on him to close games for you either.

You couldn't rely on Shaq to hit FTs. But it's not like he was benched in every close game, you could count on him to produce down the stretch.

No MVP in history has failed to make it out of the second round except one

Well this thread title didn't age well. Another 4th quarter Houdini act by Embiid.

He didn't win it by accident, he won it by a three year whining media campaign coupled with Perkins and Stephen A playing the race card and a bunch of gatekeeping clown sportswriters that didn't want to give Joker 3 in a row because Jordan never got 3 in a row.

And yet he need someone else to close games for him because teams could just foul him in crunch time.

Again I wasn't trying to compare Joel with Shaq directly, just arguing against that as a key criteria to superstardom. Giannis needs someone to close games for him too...otherwise he gets bounced in round 1 as the 1st seed.

The Embiid hate around here is over the top. He's not perfect, he has flaws(the turnovers hurt), but the dude just averaged 33ppg/10.8rpg on 59.2% TS for the series while hobbled.

Maxey was incredible in Game 5, but statistically he had a worse game than Embiid tonight, and nobody is criticizing him. Harris was a no-show. Nurse went away from the hot hand in Hield. But all anyone wants to do is crap on Embiid.

Good on the Knicks though, Brunson is amazing.

Embiid deserves some criticism but wasn't it only a week or two ago that he was bleeding from his knee brace? Despite his injury he was easily the best player in this series and it's not his fault the 76ers lost the minutes he was on the bench.

Lol. Dude had a +77.2 net on/off and the highest +/- in the series but ok.

23% FG, 0.8 rebounds per in the 4th quarter. Shot under 45% from the field for the series as a center. Presently leading the entire playoffs in turnovers.

Yes exactly which is why I said he deserves criticism, but despite that he was still by far the best player in the series.
