Knicks need to win this Pacers series for things to feel meaningful.

This is fair

Nah...we should celebrate. There's more to do, but this was a good win.

This Philly team was pretty good. This is a better team than the Cavs team we beat last year. Cavs and Bucks basically lost games to avoid them. We were missing key personnel. They played dirty, leveraged the refs, etc. Lots of national media, aside from Perkins, down on the Knicks. Knicks fans showed up in their arena and made their ownership buy tickets. Gritty wins all around...tough offensive rebounding. One potential devastating loss, followed by redemption. 40+ minute games for our starters. Close games all around.

I already said in this thread this series was a bigger win than the Cavs series last year

That said, I think it was a fair of Stannis to point out Embiid has a history of PO failures despite the battle we just got through.

Getting to the ECF is the next step. We can't fully evaluate where this team is yet so the next series will answer more questions

I don't feel overly celebratory. I'm just exhausted :)

We have to be able to take away their Turner & Hali Pick and pop action which they run over and over again. Some traps and rotations, some switches.... etc. Can't let their guys outhustle us because that's what they try to do to win.

I think Mitch will have a tough time keeping up with their perimeter bigs so he may have to ride the pine in favor of the more mobile Precious. iHart can move his feet on the perimeter pretty well so he should be fine. McBride needs 35+ minutes to ensure our 1-4 guys get some rest. Can't play 46+ minutes every game. Risky...

I know Embiid was diminished, but it was weird that no matter how he looked in the previous 3 quarters, or how much rest he got, he turns into a pumpkin with ~8 mins left in the 4th. Like clockwork.

I wish we held the first qtr lead when Embiid went to take a sh*t. I truly wonder if he would have come back out if he saw his squad was still down 20+.

But, all is well that ends well.

Maxey last night makes G5 look like a fluke, even though I think Maxey has a very high ceiling still

Next year has to still go up, even after Most Improved

Needs to become more consistent and add some wrinkles to his game

Physical fatigue (out of shape) and mental weakness (doesn't have a playoff-level killer instinct)....

I think Philly can still be in good shape next season with a rising Maxey and a healthier Embiid and all that cap space. Just get some more proven 3&D guys and they can contend.

I don't think I'll fully be able to process what Jalen Brunson just did to an MVP level player in his own building for a long time... What an incredible player we have. Cherish that guy please. They don't come around often.

This is why you bet on guys with winning pedigrees. When the margins are razor thin guys who tend to have been around success find a way to tilt games in your favor. Had a gut feeling Hart and Donte would show up in an elimination 6 and boy did they show up. Compare that to what Tobias Harris and Paul Reed did in this game... There's your series right there. Winners vs. Losers.

OG Anunoby should be a Knick for a long time. Just an incredible athlete. So many timely buckets and wrecking plays defensively off the ball. In a series where there wasn't really a natural on ball matchup for him he still found a way to be the best defensive player in the series. Now if he could just start making those pesky free throws

Does Thibs get credit for winning a series that he did not have the best player in, down an all-star player and a rotation guy that was traded for mid-season? Or is that only reserved for coaches like Spo? :D

I feel like we deliberately played rope a dope throughout the series. Keep him in tough single coverage and make him work for 36 and then he has nothing left for 12. They need to figure out how to pace him in games or he's going to find similar results. We had the personnel for it but we also just provided the blueprint.

I'm going to borrow a page out of Becky Hammon's playbook. I don't think Maxey is a 1A player. He's a heck of a 2.

Thibs gets credit plus a fat contract extension. Leon too.

High wire act, that Thibodeau. Now that he’s made it to the second round, Thibs will be rewarded no matter what. But his do-or-die tactics will catch up with him sooner or later — hopefully later.

OG and the Nova 3 better have 6 or 7 games left in the tank against these young Pacers. He played his core 4 basically the entire game. In theory we still have upwards of 14 upcoming games against Indy and Boston.

Thibs is doing what Riley did before him. There just wasn't any minutes police in the 90s.

Yeah - but I suspect that goink forward he'll be their closer.

Also, Riley’s teams never made it all the way through the Finals with a ‘Chip.
