I'm not sure why anyone would want to coach that mess if they get any other offers.

He shot well first half. Bad shot though.
He acted like there was .5 on the clock. Awful play
He was expecting an immediate foul.
McBride did foul him but it was pretty light and the refs just didn't call it.

I mean, you get a 3 year deal and only have to coach for one season.
I'd be in.

Bud would probably be the best guy for that job especially if they actually listened to him on roster construction stuff. but I doubt he'll get it and he might hold off on taking it and wait for something else. who knows, maybe with his Pop relationship he gets back involved down there to possibly take it over

Re: Around The League
So, did Darvin get a raw deal or is that just a **** gig? I haven't watched the Lakers closely enough, but it seems to me like that's a tough coaching situation for anyone.

IDK, seems fairly standard NBA. Everyone who's not winning big fires their coaches every few years. Sucks for the coaches but the tradeoff is fat guaranteed paychecks even after you're fired.

I guess it's compared to what? If you luck out and AD/LBJ go on a run you might luck out with a ring and have name recognition. If you go to say Charlotte or Detroit where you suck for three years and everyone forgets about you even if you do a decent job. It's not like Ham was going to get the Sixers or a top job.

He got the Lakers job. Clearly he could have gotten damn near any job in the league.

Re: Around The League
If the Lakers organization and fanbase weren't so constantly delusional and had realistic expectations, then Darvin probably deserved an extension for getting that offensively challenged roster to the level of success that they had the last two seasons (16-games over .500 and a Conference Finals appearance).

I just think the leagues view of the job was closer to yours than you think. You had a team with aging vets in a tough conference that just fired their HC who won a championship a few years earlier. I didn't think the Lakers had a shot at a Bud/Nurse type guy. The best coaches are waiting to coach embiid, Luka, wemby at this point. I didn't think anyone viewed the Laker job as that great and why they got Ham.

Re: Around The League
Darvin Ham had terrible rotations/timeout management. Lakers get gifted a ton of FTs so all that is amplified in close games
Bucks tricked me into being a diehard in 2001, LeBron is the 2nd best player ever, and pizza is awesome.

Most likely it was Lebron's pick.. like Giannis tried.. just give me a former player that understands but let me actually run Sh#t. No buddy, you need a real coach otherwise your boys won't be held accountable.

Don't forget, Lebron tried to get Spoelstra fired as well.

Re: Around The League
I'm not sure he was a great coach, but that roster was pretty barren outside of their top 2, although you wouldn't know it if you watched them against the Bucks. That said, he was the defensive coordinator under Bud and we were obviously great during that time so maybe he's just a great assistant.

How is Morris not ejected for that?
What a piece of trash he is.

For all the jokes this Cavs/Magic series got early on, it's turned into quite the series.
