Pacers vs Knicks : Series Thread

Post#1 » by Pacers Forever » Fri May 3, 2024 6:19 am

Series starts Monday 5/6 @ 7:30 pm in New York on TNT.

Knicks have home court advantage. Knicks currently favorites by 6.5 points in first game.

Pacers 47–35
Knicks 50-32

1st meeting 12-30 @ Indy Pacers 140-126
2nd meeting 2-1 @ NY Knicks 109-105
3rd meeting 2-10 @ NY Pacers 125-111

Looks like another series where Knicks starters dominate their team minutes and scoring with less coming from their bench.

Pacers as we’ve known all season long are a very deep productive roster.

Hicks v Knicks once again. I've never forgotten the 4 point play. Today that would've been challenged and counting the shot should've been overruled.

The thread title needs changed a bit. It should be the Evil New York Knicks.

I would've titled it Hicks v. Knicks.

I'm hyped - this is the Pacers true return to success. We just won our first playoff series in a DECADE and now we get to play our classic 90s rival. I'd love to win this series, but mainly I just hope we don't have any absolutely embarrassing showings like in games 1 & 5 of the Bucks series. Put up a good fight and may the best team win!

the rivalry goes way back. the ABA Pacers played an exhibition game against a championship Knicks team and were ahead until both coaches cleared the benches. I suspect there may be an article or a video somewhere with Slick telling that story.

I think I missed something during the last series. Do we know why Jalen Smith isn't playing? Does anyone think we will see him on the floor during the Knicks series?

A lot of coaches trim down to 8 man rotations in the playoffs, but we have seen IJax some so idk

We’re not positive whether he was a bad matchup vs the Bucks, or was rested in favor of a healthy Isiah Jackson.

I’m guessing he’ll get a shot versus the Knicks as the Pacers may want continue to draw Hartenstein to the perimeter as much as possible. I Jackson isn’t a 3 point threat like Jalen and Myles.

I wish we had another active moderator who could do this. I don’t want to be that person but maybe someone else could.

I understand the Knicks have been down to as low as 7. I hope we play a deep rotation and run their legs off.

I'm guessing here,... but with the smallest sliver of information,... He did have an injured ankle back mid-April, just before the first round. A couple of guys that work at NIFS suggested that he was a bad matchup with Portis or Giannis,.. and that his ankle needed some rest. Suggested that he could go if needed, but he should probably rest it a bit.

Not sure how much anyone from NIFS might know or not know,.. but they sounded credible (at least to the utterly ignorant,...)?... =}

Series matchup

Turner vs Hartenstein

Turner scoring, 3’s, and blocks
Hartenstein rebounding and assists
Edge to Turner

Siakam vs Anunoby

Siakam scoring, rebounding, assists
Anunoby free throws, 3’s %, defense
Edge to Siakam

Nesmith vs Hart

Nesmith 3’s, scoring, foul trouble
Hart rebounding, assists
Edge to Hart

Haliburton vs DiVencenzo
Haliburton assists, scoring, free throws
DiVencenzo 3’s
Edge to Haliburton

Nembhard vs Brunson
Nembhard defense
Brunson scoring, 3’s, free throws, rebounds, assists Huge edge to Brunson

Bench

McConnell, Toppin, Sheppard, IJax-Smith, McDermott
Robinson, McBride, Burks, Milton, Toppin, Achiuwa ?
Edge Pacers

I feel the Pacers will win the series in 6 games.

I think the winning team will win by single digits each game.

I think the Pacers depth will prevail even though Knicks have very good starting talent surrounding Brunson. Injuries have hurt an otherwise deep Knick team.

Knicks are running successfully but can their starters run for 40 minutes or will they need to play a deeper rotation?

Great first half! As long as the Pacers keep up this intensity then they have a chance to win the series. I like that the Pacers are using their bench and playing legitimately 9 deep, while the Knicks are just using three bench guys to give brief breathers to starters… the Knicks could get worn down this way
