The energy at the Garden is going to be insane, these Knicks have an amazing opportunity in front of them and I want to see them come out strong in the first game.

The last series was a brutal slugfest but this series is going to have more shootout moments, it's crazy how different the two series will be in contrast to each other.

How Deep?

DEEP?

We play 6 players. Indiana plays 8 players.

Our depth is completely a non-factor unless a player literally is unable to play and is sent to the locker room. Otherwise 48 for DDV, and mid 40s for every non IHart Mitch player.

It doesn't really matter, it can be a small. Obi can't dribble around a parking cone.

TrueWarrior wrote:This will be an interesting clash of styles from two young up and coming teams. The high speed Pacers vs the metal bat Knicks. Most teams have the same SSOL style these days, but we are definitely different.

There are also many subplots:

OG vs Siakam
Jalen vs Hali and his old coach Carlisle
Obi vs Thibs and his old team
Our playoff history against Indiana in general

Defensive Matchups should be as follows:

Donte/Deuce on Hali/TJ. Could throw OG on Hali too at times since hes not as fast as Maxey.

Jalen on Nembhard/Sheppard.

Josh on Nesmith.

OG/Precious on Siakam/Obi.

Isaiah/Mitch/Precious on Turner/Smith.

Unless we can really slow them down then we do need to throw another guy in the rotation, most likely Precious. I guess Alec is completely in the doghouse. Even if it’s only 10-15 minutes we cant have our guys playing the whole damn game against these dudes. They play at the fastest pace all time as far as I know.

I see a chippy series, but our boys take it in 5/6.

Maybe we can take a commanding lead in one or a few of these games just blow the doors off them and give burks/shake some much needed minutes for our starters... maybe even give them confidence to contribute if called upon at any point in these playoffs even if it's for just a few minutes

he doesn't need to dribble if he's catches passes or lobs on the fast break

The Pacers transition game is exhausting to defend, so if Precious can only get on the court at the 5, they might just run us out of the gym in a couple of these. Indy's smaller, but they're a lot deeper & more athletic than Philly was.

Let me preface this by saying-I'm confused on my thoughts of how much influence the nba and/refs have on any/some/all of these games...
That being said the player still have to play eachother...

Before I went deep in my mind about the nba manipulating games I believed we would sweep Indiana.
I think the knicks got better because of that Philly series and I wouldnt be surprised if the swept them...actually I believe they will sweep them...
That being said- I say worst case Indy gets 1 game in Indiana...Hopefully Thibs lets Precious play...

We’re the higher seed

Deuce, OG, Hart & Divo are going to LOCK Haliburton up and show him what playoff defense is all about

Precious will be needed and an extra weapon Shanta Siakam just like regular season.

When I say out run, that means get this Knicks tired. Will need bodies esp Precious.

So people are saying the pacers have depth and all that but it’s going to be mainly Toppin,TJ,Sheppard….clippe other guys wil get 2-3 min. The Knicks are well conditioned and aren’t gonna let the pacers dictate the pace. This is how they will feel when they think we’re tired

Regarding Precious:

He is a solid player and good defender/rebounder, but there is no doubt that he kills our spacing if he’s at the 4 since he’d be playing with Josh and Isaiah/Mitch.

Look at how the team struggled in February with Precious as a starter. Yes we were missing Julius, OG, and Mitch but we only had Jalen and Donte as shooters, and they were taking tougher attempts because of the lack of spacing.

It wasnt until OG returned for those couple games in mid March, and then Deuce replaced him once his elbow acted up, that our team got back on track. Jalen started going ham again and Donte got out of his slump.

If Precious could shoot a lick he’d be the perfect backup for us, and even a legit starter. Unfortunately he cant. That’s what makes using him tricky. Josh being able and willing to shoot changes things, but he still passes up a lot of open threes.

Precious can work for stretches as long as he isnt out there with both Josh and Isaiah/Mitch. Lineups like:

Jalen
Deuce or Donte
Donte or OG
Precious
Isaiah or Mitch

or a smaller lineup of:

Jalen
Deuce or Donte
Donte or Josh
OG
Precious

Sure, I'm just saying it can be a guard, or a wheel chair, as long as something larger than a phone book is near Obi he can't do anything.
