His value didn't increase that much since Utah traded him and he has a shorter contract now with no guarantee that he will sign an extension. Cleveland still has some leverage but not a whole lot especially when everyone knows that he isn't going to sign with them.
Desperate Miami & Brooklyn teams could make the bidding war trickier than it was last time though.
I don't see how Miami and Brooklyn can match us unless Cavs are rebuilding.
We can definitely dangle Randle or are you thinking it is Bojan + fillers + draft capital?
Depends on what the Cavs want and how desperate the Heat get. If the Cavs want a soft rebuild around Garland & Mobley's age range, then a deal built around Jaquez, Herro and picks could be more interesting than our offers. If the Cavs want to keep contending and the Heat get very ruthless, they might dangle Jimmy rather than risk being on the hook for his next contract. Plus there's potential for a Bridges+ package from the Nets...so who knows what'll happen?
Also I'm not sure about swapping Randle for Mitchell...not only would that mean finding a third team for it to entice Cleveland, but I'm not sure that actually improves us. I get the argument for upgrading on DiVo to Donovan if we could get him for DDV + Bogey + picks, but pushing DDV to the bench and also losing Randle feels too lateral for me to be that excited by it.
Just don't like the idea of having zero front court creation.
