Lol we could potentially start a European war in the locker room with 3 Germans and 1 Italian heritage player. I’m torn on the right fit to be honest. Paolo has the potential to be so great but he has the ball in his hand so much. What’s it going to look like with a true point guard initiating the offense? The offense would really have to change a lot wouldn’t it? Where as a knock down 3 point sniper is going to spread the floor and open up the paint for Paolo and Franz. Is there a point guard out there right now that offers both of those abilities ? Can we redo the draft and take Jordan Hawkins instead of Jet lol? I liked Hawkins and his ability to utilize screens and be a 3 point threat without having the ball in his hand. Time will tell though if Jet can be that, but the pre draft tapes showed Jordan Hawkins already being that.
I’m thinking it’s not a “real PG” in the vein of CP3, Tyus, or even Schroeder (although a guy like that on the bench would be nice when things get sloppy). I’m DEFINITELY not ripping the ball out of Paolo & Franz’ hands…just offering them support and a real 3rd creator option when good teams clamp down on them (which they will more and more)…I’m thinking more like Murray, Monk, Simons.
My redraft would be Cason Wallace more than Hawkins (but I really like Hawkins too). Wallace is a combo guard, fierce defender, makes open 3’s and can handle & distribute “enough” to fill in the gaps…imagine Fultz with some off-ball value. I don’t see ANY shot-hunting or PG play from AB yet, but maybe we get a little more next year…his length, defense, and vibe are great but I don’t see the skill.
Btw, doesn’t Devin Carter smell a lot like Cason?
OKC drafts so damn good, they drafted and lost three HOF players ( Durant,Westbrook, & Russell) and still here they are this year as the #1 seed in the ridiculously tough west. That is the reason I’d love our front office to explore a bit of a business relationship with them. Orlando and OKC are both young teams but on the opposite end of the spectrum and timeline. I’ve said it before but Chet and JI on the same team at the same time, or JI coming off their bench. I’d scratch their back now if they would scratch ours later lol. I’ve seen D. Carters name tied to ours either in this forum or on mock drafts, I need to watch some videos on him.
Yep. OKC is awesomely well-run. Contenders with a VERY young roster and a mountain of picks in their pocket. They got a head start by stealing ALL-NBA SGA to begin the rebuild. Admittedly, they had a HOF’er to kick start. We did well with Vuc, but he’s no Paul George.
I don’t think we’re far behind and we could close the gap this summer AND get younger at the same time, by cleaning out our FA’s.
I haven’t followed college bball too closely this season, but recently watched some Devin Carter film and said …”Cason 2.0” immediately.
