Probably if they were 1-1, no chance now.

Maybe I'm just becoming a crusty old boomer now, but with the entire 2010s generation out of the Playoffs and possibly Giannis/Jokic/Embiid out soon as well, I'm losing interest in the remaining games. Just can't bring myself to root for these new young teams for whatever reason.

Oh well, Mavs it is. Luka/Kyrie to save the league for the older generation.

Ah heck no. As a bona fide member of the older generation who is eligible for Social Security this year. Twin Towers rather than this namby pamby 4 wings and a point guard shooting 3's stuff. Save us from having to deal with a league of Celtic copycats please Rudy Gobert.

The Wolves certainly are out for Jokic (heh). And he‘s playing poorly (nobody on the Nuggets is delivering - Holiday?) but it does confirm for me he’s seen as the clear #1 right now, nobody bothers to come out like this for Giannis/Embiid (apart from that mickey guy).

So much this. Some haters just wanting for their chance. And because they've had to wait like 5 years its pouring out.

I remember Lebron played one particularly bad series. Then was in the Finals the next 9 seasons with 3 titles. Dirk had a bad 2 games in a series and then went right back to dominating regular seasons and playoffs.

Full marks to Minnesota here. But dismissing Jokic is so premature and hot takey.

Jokic is still great and with Gobert out for Game 2, he has a chance to really take over. Still rooting for the Wolves though.

Yeah, the hot takes are wild but so were the hot takes after they beat the Lakers talking about Jokic is the best player since MJ, better than peak LeBron etc.

Same thing happened in 2016 BTW, people were saying Curry was the best player since MJ and better than peak LeBron. Common theme for both 2016 Curry and Jokic over the last 12 months has been that they are both "perfect offensive players", "incapable of having a bad game".

Curry and Jokic are all-time greats both on trajectory to be top 10-15 (Curry is already there) but some of those hot takes are just as wild as now saying Jokic got exposed! or worst defender for a superstar ever.

Jokic will be fine even if they lose this series. That team is going to make a bunch of deep runs and he's going to win a few more over the next few years.

Wolves making the WCF would be huge for a tortured franchise. I am sure the Celtics coaches and players are watching every game of this series really praying for the Wolves to get rid of Nuggets

Why?

The Wolves are the much better team compared to the Nuggets with an incredible depth advantage over the Celtics.

I don't think the Wolves are better than the Celtics. The Celtics also have an amazing defense and I think they match-up better with Wolves than the Nuggets. You think the Celtics rather face Nuggets in the Finals?

If by same player you mean he has many of the same relative strengths and weaknesses, sure. But if you’re trying to suggest he’s at the same level as 2020, I’m sorry but even with the horrendous game he just had, this feels like a gross oversimplification.

Biggest crime you can commit on here is beating Bron in a series, puts a big ol target on your back we should know that by now

Still it's nice to see Jokic get some real criticism rather than just blaming his defense on like Facundo Campazzo or whatever

Between Malone and Murray, Thuggets got away with a lot of shenanigans. Imagine it was Draymond...

The Current Nuggets who barely beat the Lakers and are getting clobbered by the Timberwolves? Yes I do.

I never said the Wolves are better than the Celtics, I said the Wolves are better than the Nuggets and have a bench advantage over the Celtics.

Also where in the world did Nikeil Alexander Walker come from what a great pickup for Minny

Gobert is obviously their top dog defensively, but that roster is just filled with dogs

Giannis and Embiid fans (and to be clear I really like the two players) coming out with daggers for Jokic when the two combine for 1 playoff series win in the past 2 seasons is so funny

The best part for NAW is last off-season he signed a 2 year, 9 Million dollar deal. Dude is making basically twice the minimum salary and will be on for next year as well.

They kept showing him in the game and he was legitimately smiling/laughing when he played defense.

Slight disagree. Don't think its about beating LeBron. When you have 20 page threads on GB saying Jokic is the best player since MJ which is an insane hot take IMO, you are going to get blowback. Forget LeBron, are we sure Jokic is better than peak Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, Curry?

It becomes about LeBron often because he's still very polarizing but like come on, saying Jokic is the best peak player since MJ is going to bring the knives out if you are getting embarrassed like this.

I mean okay.....I am talking about match-ups. I just feel the Celtics probably want Wolves in the Finals. Might be wrong but just a subjective take.

BTW if the Wolves make the Finals, you better believe I am going to be rooting for them hard :)
