The #52 pick: ? or !
All the great minds on this board...
All the extensive & deep basketball knowledge on this board...
There are surprises out there, & you know it! More than one guy who's going to be a strong NBA contributor! Who'd be a plus for this rebuilding team!
Only... who is it? Or, better yet, who are they?
You have your own thoughts, I'm sure. Here are a few guys on my radar:
Is it Marquette guard Kameron Jones with his 24 points per 40 minutes on over 27% usage & a .614 TS%?
Is it Adama Bal out of Santa Clara?
How about Jalen Bridges -- senior with 4 years of excellent numbers vs. the toughest level of NCAA competition?
Or is is KJ Simpson, a guy who blew up this college season?
Maybe Ajay Mitchell, who scored this year at a .612 clip?
Could it be the "incredibly crafty and talented" Alabama PG Mark Sears who this year produced almost 26 points per 40 minutes at an amazing .658 TS%?
Jamal Shead? Can't shoot yet but puts up huge numbers in every other way?
Perhaps it'll be the truly exceptional Jonathan Mogbo with his off the charts athleticism & monster numbers?
Or it might be someone else, someone on your radar that hasn't shown up on mine!
One thing I can tell you is that there's a good player who'll be there for us. & another one, too, who will be available because he goes undrafted.

I vote Jalen Bridges if he’s there. You can never have enough 3nD wings. When watching highlights I was surprised how many of his 3s were self created

Ariel Hukporti. He's had injury issues, but if he can get healthy, boom. He's also a draft and stash candidate with a German passport.
I like his lowpost game better than Sarr. Physical guy, not shy to rebound, raw power, nimble with great explosion, he just needs a tailored training program to keep him healthy.

Re: The #52 pick: ? or !
I've been deep diving NFL draft stuff for a bit and man that's screwed my perspective here. So it's super common to swap picks as the trade like for example I'll give you 45 and 191
For 52 And 64 a d a future pick. So like it's weird.
I would say if we could get something good for 52 do it. But other than that take BPA.
Personally I think the teams should expand to about 17- 18 spots and 2-3 two way spots. And there should be a 3ed round. Also compensatory picks like when teams loose them or forgot them they should be auctioned off to loto teams and handed out at the back of the round. Or when they loose a player to free agency or an unfair trade request the least the league could do is let them apply for a free second rounder.

Hukporti would be an awesome pick at 51. Generally in favor of a high upside draft and stash.
Johni Broome would also be a good option.
I’d be shocked if KJ Simpson drops to 51, but that’s an obvious take if he’s there. Kam Jones is headed back to school, unfortunately.

I think Johni Broome is returning to Auburn unless he hears good feedback during the workout sessions. If so then he'd probably be gone before the 50's.

I'm tired of athleticism, upside, and all that in the 2nd round. Basically what we've been doing.

Gotta agree -- Sears got better year on year, & he had a terrific Senior year against very tough competition. If he's there at 51 or 52 (not sure which is our pick...) -- grab him.

Ordinarily, I'd cast my vote for a UVA guy like Reece Beekman. But since we're re-building, we should take a teenage draft-and-stash project-type like ĐURIŠIĆ.
That said, I do like Beekman - he's an excellent facilitator and a tough defender (ACC DPOY in 22/23). Ryan Dunn stole the spotlight this year, but RB deserves a shot with somebody.

Re: The #52 pick: ? or !
I’m taking UNC’s Harrison Ingram with the pick.
Physically tough, high motor, good size (6’7 w/ a 7ft wingspan). Outstanding defender and rebounder (4th in ACC in rebounding). Improving 3 ball (Shot 38% on 3s).
But I think Ingram goes in the 35-45 range.

Definitely a terrific pick! But... I agree: he'll almost certainly be off the board by then.

How about this thought in the second round. Best knock down shooter available at any position. That seems to be the most translatable skill that's the hardest to teach if you don't have it. ?

Only 14 posts...?
C'mon! We're rebuilding!! There are going to be some real gems on the board in the 50s of this draft!

Draft and stash international player makes the most sense if the Wizards use both their first round picks.

I want Djurisic *at 26* — if he lasts that long.
What an intriguing prospect.
If we go with Rissacher or Clingan, especially.

Re: The #52 pick: ? or !
I've posted most of my guys on the main Wizards draft board. Its not easy because this draft evaluation is so varied... For example, one of my favorite late 1st/2nd round prospects Izan Almansa on The Ringer is mocked at 57, but on Rookie Scale Consensus he's 37, and Bleacher Report he's not drafted.
Generally speaking, 51 IMO is where we should target Center depth. I am not in the Clingan at 2 camp.
Any of Almansa, Adem Bona, Oso Ighodaro, N’Faly Dante, Ulrich Chomche could still be on the board at 51.
In fact, looking at the 2nd round there are numerous teams that have multiple 2nd round picks, like the Pacers, the Spurs, the Blazers...
I'd be interested in trading back from 26 for two 2nd rounders (Blazers 34 & 40 for example).
Basically, in addition to our top pick, I'd love to come out of this draft with Izan Almansa, Cam Christie, and Adem Bona. That's my ideal outcome IMO.
But... that being said, if we take this dude at 51, I won't be mad.

No chance Djurisic is on the board at 51, or so it seems.
Sears is looking like an outstanding choice. But, he might well be gone by then as well.
