When Cam Christie entered his name into the NBA draft it was clear that there was no guarantee he'd return to the University of Minnesota for his sophomore season in 2024-25. Now it appears very clear that he will not return to the Gophers even if he returns to college next season.
According to the Star Tribune's Marcus Fuller, Christie has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal. May 1 was the deadline to enter the transfer portal, so Christie now has options. He can stay in the NBA draft, return to the Gophers or seek big money in the NIL market from another university.
Christie will be listed in the portal as a "do not contact" because his name is still in the NBA draft, according to ESPN's Jonathan Givony.
The freshman from Arlington Heights, Ill., shot 40.3% from the field and 39.1% from 3-point range, where he knocked down 70 shots while averaging 11.3 points per game.
Pretty stroke

I'm very intrigued by Ajay Mitchell. Thanks for sharing.
Dude's got a little bit of that Brunson pacing and feel with a live dribble inside of the 3 pt line.
His low volume 3 pt shooting has me curious if his 3 pt shot is real. I do like his FT% and he's been a good jumpshooter inside the arc his whole career.
No clue on his defense or if he's really a facilitator for others.
I'm gonna check him out more when I have the chance.

We got Gabe Vincent from UC Santa Barbara. Mitchell could be another UCSB steal in the second round as a developmental guard prospect. Would allow us to comfortably go big in the 1st rd.

If you remember last year I am big on Reece Beekman. I am still big on him even thou he needs to develop his three pointer. He has Heat DNA. A Dog

I really want to use this draft to transform this team to a huge, strong, elite defense with just enough shooting and creating.
For example :
Devin Carter/________
Jimmy/Highsmith
Jovic/Jamie
Bam/DaRon Holmes
Kel'el Ware/________

6'10 220 with these type of skills has to be on our radar. I do have da Silva ahead but with a stellar workout here he could easily be justifiable.

Identifying a good amount of shooting and switchable bigs that will be available at 15. Going to be very hard to pass on them for a guard when it's been our long standing weakness. Rozier/Wright/2nd rd round pick and we should be ok for the next few years at the guard spot.

I'd do anything possible to get both.
Trade Duncan/Herro for another pick in the teens, get a guard + a shooting big man.
Not sure if there's a buyer out there..

I don't think there's a buyer for that. These draft picks are like gold right now with the new salary cap structures that it makes no sense for a team to take on all that salary when they could just pick the next Herro and Robinson on the cheap. Unless we trade Butler for the 76ers 16th pick this scenario is highly unlikely.

Take Jimmy out of the lineup so we can use him to pry some picks and it cpuld be realistic.

The more tape I watch the more impressed I am with Cam Christie shooting potential. I think he has the potential to be an elite shooter like Duncan. He has very good shooting instincts as well.

Now we're cookin.
I think DaRon Holmes is a headscratching fit for a lot of NBA teams. He's somewhere between a 4 and a 5. IMO that creates opportunity and value for the teams that have the personnel in place for him to fit with.
Is he mobile/swift-footed enough to be a full-time 4? Maybe. Maybe not.
Is he long and strong enough to be a full-time 5? Maybe. Maybe not.
Is his 3 ball real? Maybe. Maybe not.
BUT, Miami having Bam Adebayo as a playmaking big and the most versatile defender in the NBA opens up a unique opportunity. I really like Holmes potential fit as the 3rd big in Miami's rotation.
With all of the Minny talk on this board today--can this be Miami's Naz Reid? If a player can provide requisite skillset to play with the team's starting 5 and with the team's starting 4, then that's a player that can earn starter minutes sooner rather than later and provide a lot of value as a backup.

We were talking about his usage. If hes gonna be our Naz, he better be ready to keep that usage up and pressure the basket every chance.

They're not the same player. Nor are the big men that they would be playing alongside the same. It's more of a comment on a unique potential for upgrading the power rotation.
Naz was a bit of a tweener as a prospect (PF/C) with a lot of value to add if placed in the right fit. I can see a similar dynamic at play for Holmes.

Re: **NBA Draft Discussion 2024**
From what I see, he's a talented offensive player with plenty of ball skill for his size. I just wonder about how effective of a defender he is. The non Bam minutes might be the biggest achilles heel of this team.
I want us to draft a big man that atleast holds up better than a 100 year old Kevin Love. Ware, Missi, Holmes, Edey, Bona. Any of them, please. I'm tired of 6-10 g league big men, and washed vets.
