Coach Thibs or Coach Carlisle
Thibs has been playing extremely heavy minutes for his top players with Hart, Brunson, and OG averaging 47, 44, and 42 minutes over the past 7 games. Thibs was assistant coach to JVG, who was known to play key players for 40+ minutes.
In contrast, no one on Rick Carlisle's Pacers has averaged more than 38 mpg.
Which way do you prefer?

Well, in Thibs case, what choice does he have? He's constantly had to adjust with guys who were in and out of the lineup due to injury. For example, Josh Hart doesn't have anyone right now who can spell him minutes other than Precious. Just look at his bench, it's slim pickings out there.

That's true... I just checked his minutes distributions for earlier seasons, it is not as bad as JVG, who used to player 2 or 3 players to 40mpg in the regular season.

Thibs seems to be the best at getting more out of less. Not just this year either. He won a playoff series with Nate Robinson as his best offensive player

Knicks are riddled with injuries, Bogy, Randle, now Mitchell. Thibs is doing what he does, which is run players to the ground.

Most teams are riddled with injury. If the knicks want to keep winning he has to lean on his top guys heavily right now.
I'd take Thibs over Carlisle because I think he can simply get more out of a roster.

The Pacers’ depth has been one of their biggest strengths this year, easily able to go 10 or 11 deep, keeping fresh legs in the court and maintaining breakneck pacing.

Re: Coach Thibs or Coach Carlisle
I do think Thibs is a better defensive coach so I’ll prefer that but id also prefer to not play our guys such heavy mins
Luckily for us. We have alot of picks in this draft. Should add to the depth if we draft correctly

I think Thibs pair down to 7 or 8 Indy but Knicks really don't have 10 players to play

Carlisle gets criticism for not making it out of the first round after the championship, but I thought it was damn impressive some of those teams even made the playoffs, especially in the West.

Re: Coach Thibs or Coach Carlisle
Thibs only started playing our starters huge minutes when injuries & trades removed our depth. Before that he was running a full 9 man rotation with none of our players in the top 15 or top 20 for MPG (I forget which)...just like last year, when he started the season playing a 10 man rotation before Reddish & Fournier played their way out of the picture.
This isn't so much a philosophical difference as a logistical one. Indiana is a man or two deeper than us in general, but we're currently missing our two starting bigs (Randle & Robinson) and our best bench scorer/shooter (Bogdanovic). While Indiana is just missing Mathurin right now...unless I'm being an idiot

Yeah you guys are basically a hockey team, just wave after wave of fresh legs putting constant pressure on us.

so then rick will plays what thibs plays = you play what you got

I do think that there is a bit of a difference. Thibs tried a 10 man rotation at the start of last season before switching to a 9 man rotation and after the switch said he thought it gave the guys better rhythm, which fueled our winning streak.
So while I do think most of the difference comes down to Indiana having more guys in general and fewer out injured right now, even at full health I do think Carlisle would go 1 guy deeper to play 9.5 guys while Thibs would play 8.5 if we had no injuries.

*8.5! Don't forget the old Obi role. At full health Thibs would be playing:
Brunson | McBride
DiVincenzo
Anunoby | Hart
Randle | Bogey/Achiuwa
Robinson | Hartenstein
With Bogey only getting around 14-16mpg, like Obi used to.

Re: Coach Thibs or Coach Carlisle
Thibs is needing to out of necessity. He would play 8-9 deep right now if everyone is healthy.
A blessing in disguise is Josh Hart finding his 3-point shot after messing his wrist up in early April. Going from low-mid 30's to 40+% in the playoffs is a huge reason why the Knicks found their #2 option who fits within the offensive structure.
For Carlisle, the depth allows his team to stay within the system then need to implement to be competitive. The ball moves faster than the player and that credo is why they will always make each game competitive. Their only downfall is they don't have the best player on their team in this series. That distinction belongs to Jalen Brunson.

Mitchell was averaging 19 minutes per game in the playoffs. He injured his previously injured ankle. Seems more like a Knicks medical staff thing than a Thibs thing. Guy has missed a ton of time his whole career.
Bogie averaged less than 13mpg in the playoffs. Just over 19 mpg in the regular season w/the Knicks...10 below his career average.
Randle crashed to the ground on a drive where someone else tried to take a charge.
Doesn't appear any of these have anything to do w/Thibs.
