That's amazing.
What's the record?

Did they even have this award during the Bill Russell days??

Obviously not. :)

Without looking it up, I'd guess it came in around the time Sixth Man of the Year did, which was early 1980s.

OKC x Minny would be a small market nightmare WCF for the NBA. Edwards and Shai might bring enough viewers to save that though. Celtics x Knicks however, would be an ECF wet dream for Silver.

The ratings this spring don't matter. The deals are already basically done.

They didnt start recording blocks until the late 70s (I think). Not sure about steals

OKC is just flat out good and will be a big challenge for the Wolves in the next round.

You guys are assuming the Nuggets will not fight back.

Make it 3-0 and that's the time we can really say the chicken Nuggets are cooked.

OK. I'll check. First DPotY and first 6MotY awards were both in 1983.

Oddly vs. today, perimeter players won most of the early DPotY awards, while bigs got most of the early 6MotY nods.

All-Defensive Team started Russell's last season, which is the same time Finals MVP was introduced.

Good looking those up. -- Interesting how things have developed. I'd like to see the "Hockey Assists" recorded.
And for some of these Awards, there should be more than one. Like DPOY & 6MOY, as perfect examples.

While we already have the All-Defensive Team; I think that we need to add a 3rd row to that.
Also, there should be an All 6th-Man Team.

The League has added a lot of Players, yet the Awards have lagged grossly behind. 450 Max NBA Players, plus another 90 Two-Ways. If they're going to have the Awards, then they might as well keep pace.

Easiest add would be a third all-defensive team. The number of guys who deserve to be on a team is probably way over 10.

Most obvious 9 for me:

Gobert and McDaniels
White and Holiday
Bam
Anthony Davis
Wemby
Caruso
Herb Jones

Surely one or more from OKC as well

Clear as day.

JT is just being smart.

Why try to score 30 when there are 2 or 3 defenders around him every time.

Part of the reason why White is getting good shots is because of JT being a willing passer.

People started questioning if Jokic really deserves all that praise (which is unfair imo). I wonder how he is going to respond in game 3. I would try to score myself in every possession unless they double me, I guess. My teammates sucked in this series anyway.

NBA not suspending Jamal is really a bad look.

Just look how the officiating would be one sided in favor of the nuggets. Nba can’t have the defending champs going out in 4.

Wemby should have won. Sucks that Spurs suck tho. Not saying Rudy isn’t deserving (2nd IMO), I just think Wemby was the best defender by a country mile, wasn’t close!

I think Bam is best defensive big man. Minny having best defensive performance of the decade without Gobert makes me wonder how McDaniels didn’t make top 10.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Knicks? I guess? Their hungriest players are 29 and 27.
