Deuce playoff stats:
10ppg, 46% fg, 42% from 3 in 22mpg

He struggled a little last game but overall has been playing very well. He will bounce back.

Even so, we may still need another body with Mitch out so may need to dust Burks off. But Thibs may still stick to the short rotation

I think we’ll win by 10+ tonight. Our adjustments ought to have more impact than theirs. Let’s see…

Also, it was just Divo's night. As much as McBride has struggled these past 2 games, Divo struggled even more the last series, so getting him back on track is nice, too.

I think Deuce will be a non-factor unfortunately. Something about TJ makes him play poorly on both ends for some reason.

Thibs playing 7 guys isn't sustainable. He's gonna have to open up the bench and kick the tires on Burks.

Does Thibs play Sims or Burks? I mean...like...WTF? If any team can survive this type of situation it's this team but, holy fuq! Randle/Boj/Mitch all gone. Pacers are gonna smell blood in the water. This is gonna be a tougher series now. Let's go Knicks!
Yeah Im excited..It took Ewing being hurt for Gundy to give Camby the burn to shine. It's your turn now Precious!

Yeah Im not worried about Deuce. Thibs is just giving the bench a real short leash now. Plus Jalen, Donte and Josh have been great lately so it’s been hard to find too much time for Deuce. He should be getting at least 20 mpg though considering he’s our only backup for the 1-3 spots lol.

With that said, if Alec is healthy it’s a joke that he cant play 10-15 mpg. You’d think being benched for a month with a new contract looming would be a wakeup call, and that the staff has communicated to him what they need more. It must be impossible for Alec to just focus on being a 3/D guy first, and only if the play breaks down with the shot clock nearing zero should he start freelancing. That’s all he has to do and he cant do it I guess.

Say what you all want, but we could use Grimes (if his knee is okay) and Obi now. We bet on old players and G Leaguers to fill out our bench. Did Obi a solid by getting nothing back, and then Julius misses half the season and playoffs. Injuries happen. Julius was a fluke thing, but Mitch and Bojan dont surprise me. Alec is needed and he just forgot how to ball. Leon has been good overall but the Grimes and Obi trades were complete busts.

TJ always kills us. He killed everyone and did a lot of damage when Deuce wasn’t even on him. He only had 4 of his 18 points with Deuce defending him.

We can’t afford Deuce to be a non factor all series….i mean, bad games are ok but at certain points we are going to need production and Deuce has proven he can contribute. Send a maniac to catch a maniac. Think we def need him to slow down TJ.

Especially since it's obvious what Carlisle's plan is, use his bench and just run, run, run.

There's quite a few reasons why this isn't true. Just off the top of my head:

1. Grimes isn't healthy so wouldn't be a factor
2. Bogey was a major contributor in the Philly series before going down. We don't have a 2-0 lead without him
3. Obi's role was replaced by Precious, who was better at it
4. The trade can't be judged until we see what we do with Bogey's contract, because that was the real reason we did it

The concern is that Burks looked so bad and might not even be healthy. Chucking way too many dumb shots, bad turnovers, bad defense, bad shooting. If we were sticking to a 8 man rotation then think it was ok to leave him out.

But with another man down we may need another body. If he plays just hope he wakes up and plays smarter and focuses on the things you said

1. Grimes would be healthy enough to play now. He only missed the end of the season because there was no point to risk it. Shams said his bone bruise was healed and Grimes himself said he only had a little flare up.

2. Bojan had a nice game 1 last series, but nothing much after that. His defense is still atrocious and his wrist was already injured when we traded for him. Fact is he is 35 and should not have been counted on so much. While Alec has been a huge waste of space.

3. Precious will get a chance now, but hasnt even played in the playoffs so far outside of 2 halves. Obi did well last playoffs and is doing great this playoffs. He could play with Isaiah or Mitch, while Precious cant without killing our spacing. Precious and Obi could play together too. Precious can play the 5 and Rick plays Obi at the 3 sometimes even. It’s not an either/or thing. We gave Obi away for nothing when we didn’t need to.

4. We could have picked up Fournier’s option if we wanted somebody to trade. It would be messed up but there are worse things in the world.

I hope all the good will we created by trading Obi, Grimes, and Fournier comes back to help us. No use complaining about it anymore but we’re feeling it now.

Yeah. I understand why he is resistant to using the bench but the team lost two rotation players back to back. Precious and Burks have to play, and I think Sims might need to get burn too just to keep fresh legs out there.

Leon has gotta make depth his number 1 priority in the offseason.

I think that we'll see some Burks tonight.

Also, I think we switch out OG for I-Hart to guard Siakam, who was able to shoot over OG in the paint in Game 1, and put OG on Turner.

Return to New York Knicks
