Crazy but super honest question …

I do like the idea of adding Malik Monk. I see the value 2024 Malik Monk adds to this roster.

However, early career Malik Monk struggled to contribute for a variety of reasons. We can blame some of that on the coaching staff he had early but consistency has always been a concern with him even today. As he has matured and the quality of teammates around him improved so did his ability to maintain his high level of play for longer periods of time and even have massive eruptions.

Here is my question:

Why can’t our own Cole Anthony have a similar career path?

Is there room for us to sign a guy like Monk and hang on to Cole as a guy who learns from him and eventually emerges as the Monk contract expires? Or is that selfish of the team and signing Monk means Cole should have a chance to flourish elsewhere?

If we all can’t agree on who to sign, then we should just run it back.

Maybe he could. Maybe he couldn’t. Why wait around for him though?

The Magic are still trying to win as much as they can next year.

Remains to be seen. Maybe Mosley will, but I'm not convinced the front office is going to make pedal to the metal moves.

The team will definitely try to win as much as possible, but that doesn’t mean it’s ring or bust, or that final dressing moves have been made. They could run it back and they’d still be trying to win as much as possible.

I really think they want to give the young guys more time to take lumps and learn lessons, but hopefully with some supporting pieces with a bit more edge to them.

I’m excited to see Black and Jett at summer league. Hoping they really show out with some experience behind them now.

Honestly what is it that you’ll see in Monk that’s so exciting? Just a quick glance at his stats this season and Murray and Simons look like the better options.

The front office would be making a mistake, I don’t know how much of this season was real or how much of it had to do with other teams injuries. We won games and lost games we probably shouldn’t have that’s normal but key injuries to some of the competition in our own division definitely factored into us maybe be seeded higher then we should have been.

It isn’t even clear if either is available. Monk is a free agent.

Murray spent time in Juvenile Detention and Monk was suspended for drugs early in his career.

Magic may disqualify both based on those facts.

but how much better is he than a single tool guy like Kennard now?

I just don't like the idea of a young, defensively powerful team signing a guy who is kind of a shell of the HOFer he was. It feels like a retirement party. He'll go for 40 a few times and light up the headlines, but I don't know where that takes ORL over the course of a season.

Well... much like the Simons/Monk debate, Klay is preferable to Kennard (at least for me) because Klay would only cost money and Kennard would cost at least some level of asset to obtain.
Memphis has a team option, and they're close to the tax threshold.

Doubt it. It's been years since any of that happened.

In that case, run it back with a new Front Office :nonono:

They’re both significantly better.

This is the best team since Dwight years. Good luck with that.

Which they should.

I would legitimately make a fire WePark sig and run it all season, or until they make a big move, no matter how many games we win.
Bob Myers from GS would be a nice fit for the Magic. Don't think it will ever happen but it's nice to dream.

Jerry West picked Thompson and Green. Then he called Durant. Bob Myers picked Wiseman over LaMelo, Kuminga over Franz, and Moody over Sengun. He had a dynasty given to him and blew it.

It seems like the majority of the board believes Monk or Murray are the most available and favored options for the Magic to obtain this offseason. Knowing Monk will cost no assets and Murray at a minimum would cost Black and 2-3 firsts which player would you prefer the Magic get and why?
