He got 79 first place votes. I think the final straw poll had him with 85 firsts so that Spurs loss didn't hurt him much.

This is his era. But he and the Nuggets have a lot to work on this summer.

This was my early April guess. Has been clear this was the order at least as long, probably back to Feb.

I had it closer between SGA and Luka than voters did. Assuming for most of the reasons that got aired in the MVP thread.

I expect 2 and three to tighten up but otherwise yeah this is the result we should expect and has been the case since at least early in 2024.

SGA 580
Luka 550
Giannis 340
Tatum 120

You can use statistical backflips like this to justify just about anything. This is downright silly.

And that’s without even mentioning that you’re using playoff stuff to argue a regular season award.

Of course using playoff success to argue Luka over Jokic is silly too.

So you’re kind of pulling a hat trick here.

The other guy brought up the playoffs first, I simply responded.

Yes, its a regular season award and the Nuggets were very underwhelming compared to the hype they received about becoming a potential dynasty off their soft touch finals win last year. They mostly sleepwalked through the season which is kind of reflective of Jokics overall attitude towards basketball.

I felt SGA and Luka seasons were more impressive when you consider everything. They exceeded expectations set out for them this year.

The criteria has shifted a lot so it’s hard to make historic comparisons, but if you’re giving the mvp to the best player you know you’re doing something right. Hopefully this puts a fire in him and we get a more interesting Nuggets - Wolves series.

If Jokic played with Kobe he wouldn’t have 3 MVPs. The argument was always that you couldn’t be the MVP with another MVP Caliber guy on the roster.

Would be like if you had Jokic and Luka on the same team.

The fact that Jokic won a landslide, tells you everything you need to know. He got 97x 1st and 2nd place votes guys, just accept it.

SGA wasn't even the clear #2 2nd option as evidenced by Luka getting split votes there.
