To beat Knicks + referees, dont keep the game close in 4th quarter
In these playoffs referees are favouring Knicks a lot. We saw it in 1st Round against 76ers and we are now seeing it in 2nd Round against Pacers.
But dont expect NBA to change this if the game is close. After a big gap, Knicks finally have a good team. And remember New York is the biggest market of NBA. So if the difference is minimal, expect that referees will favour Knicks.
So to beat Knicks your team has to play much better than Knicks so that referees cannot affect the outcome. Your team should have 10+ points advantage in 4th quarter. Then you will be victorious.

Good luck with that. We'll just tell the refs to start fixing things earlier in the game

i'm sick of team fanbases confusing the knicks physicality with their cupcake team that, as perkins said, is too scared to pour milk in cereal because they don't want to hear it go snap, crackle, and pop.

The Knicks are getting a favorable whistle? So Embiid got tossed in game 3 when going full MMA on guys right? Or even got a single tech?
Not sure what everyone is watching? I would argue the Knicks should've gotten more calls in favor of them. I hate that this is being used as a small market vs. Big market thing, it's weakening the argument we actually have.
Big markets/a team with a superstar do get favorable whistles. But these two series aren't a case of that. The Pacers have to stop being a trash tier defense is all that needs to happen. Their players need to learn there's more to basketball besides offense. They need to take a page from TJ McConnell's book since he's the only one that seems to care about both ends.

pacers method of outscring isn't working, it's not sustainable.
they got lucky with the bucks missing their guys, the knicks can score.

Since 1993 Knicks have played 43 playoff games against Indiana in the Post-Season. Indy has averaged 3 more fts per game than NY. The free throw differential in this series doesn't touch Indiana's peak series of 2013 when Indiana only won because of getting 11 more FT per game than NY*.
Either the NBA only decided to start fixing the games in 2024 or you wrap tinfoil around your head because you're jealous of NYC. I assume the later.

* BTW, I'm not alleging the NBA fixed that series for Indiana. The pacers did a better job getting to the line in that series.

before joel embiid, roy hibbert was the first 7 foot 280 pounder that constantly flopped onto the floor on rebounds.

I don't think the Sixers got hosed by the refs, wasn't my sense while watching those games as a Sixers fan. Maybe some more calls went the Knicks way but the Sixers got plenty too, and in any case it was good basketball. The Knicks out-hustling the Sixers and making fewer mistakes was way more obviously what that series was about (plus Brunson out-dueling the Sixers guy in the last two wins).

This isn't a case of big market teams getting preferential treatment from refs.
It's a case of a few loud and biased internet trolls grasping at straws, and two coaches attempting to manipulate the media and refs when desperate and down 2-0 to a better team.

That could be interesting, what does the NBA do when two big markets go against each other? Does it fix it for both? Or would that come down to whose owner pays the refs more?

Indiana averages more free throws against the knicks. In the 2013 series they shot 11 more per game.

If Boston and NY end up playing eachother in the ECF then its mission accomplished by the refs/Silver.

Re: To beat Knicks + referees, dont keep the game close in 4th quarter
I don't see why this OP deserved its own topic. It should probably be a post in one of the many threads about this series. But I shouldn't back-seat moderate here.
The refs did make some mistakes that turned game 1 in New York's favor, yes (judging from the replays here, couldn't watch the game live, I was in Italy proposing to my gf). But that shouldn't take anything away from the Knicks as a team. They are a gritty team that knows how to close out games. They keep coming at you with immense intensity and Brunson keeps hitting big shots. They are a flat out good team and they deserved their wins.
As for game 2, the refs didn't impact the outcome of that game at all, imo. Brunson was once again amazing and the Knicks closed us out.
