OK, name is dumb ad FIFA may still change it.
It will be a 32-team tournament with 12 of the clubs from Europe.
It's suppose to take place in 2025.
So after the Euros this summer, then this Mundial thing and then WC in 2026?
They're going to work footballers to death unless this competition is just replacing the summer tour games that European clubs always do -- hell Wrexham is suppose to play in the West Coast of the US this summer.
In any event, FIFA has struggled to sell TV rights and now they may strike a deal with Apple.

Thinking more about it, this event is probably not going to be prestigious enough for clubs to make their best players play a lot. Mostly younger players who don't play often during the league season will probably play a lot.

As first reported by The Times, the two organisations have written a joint letter to FIFA, seen by The Athletic, to raise concerns over the governing body’s expanding international match calendar and the impact this is having on player welfare and the organisation of domestic leagues.

this looks cynical to me. like blackmailing for a bigger share of the pie.
if they are too concerned about player's health they would have already taken legal action against brazilian and english football calendar that can go over 60 dates with ease. in brazil, if a club makes way to every final there is to play, they have almost 80 games in the season season.
it's just 7 extra games for 2 teams and 4 extra games for 16 teams. for very few selected clubs with an invaluable revenue source for non-european clubs.
