Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I do find it interesting they're "pessimistic" about Game 3 specifically, am I reading too much into it to say thats a good sign? Like I'd be more worried if they were like 'pessimistic he'll return for the series, or even the playoffs' something like that would be more alarming.. idk maybe I'm just hoping.
I optimistically interpreted it the same way. Like they are looking at this as a game to game injury.
Game 3 even being on the table is encouraging.
Not trying to curb your optimism and I certainly hope you are right but given how team's leaguewide (not only Knicks) treat injury related stuff it could just be a smokescreen to keep the Pacers guessing. See Giannis---after the series was over it was revealed he was nowhere near close to returning. Even if today the Knicks know 100% that OG is out for game 3, they would likely keep it somewhat vague (like in that announcement).
The Knicks at this point have certainly done an MRI. They know the exact extent of the damage to that muscle. If they don't announce any results of the MRI I would definitely curb my optimism and expectations. The only reason not to announce those would be if the damage is so big that by today they actually know he'll be out for the entire series but do not want to announce it. If the MRI results revealed no structural damage and just a very slight strain, they would certainly make that public.
