Shams Bomb: Suns hire Mike Budenholzer
Good coach, shouldn't have been let go with the Bucks after his brother passed suddenly.
However Bud's talent is defense, and the Suns don't have it. I smell another scapegoat when they're outed in the 1st round next season.

Can he get KD and Booker to buy in and Beal to not be a trainwreck? They got a healthy KD season this year (same for Nurk). I'm expecting disaster next season.

Yup, like clockwork, guess this also means Durant/Booker/Beal are unlikely to be traded this offseason, although might happen at the trade deadline if they have a rough start.

Bud is a great coach, but no coach is going to fix this roster and the owner and FO's mindset. Ishbia and JJ made it clear they dont want a PG and want their 3 stars taking turns iso'ing and that will limit the coach's impact on offense. They need better defensive personnel but Vogel did a great job building a decent defense considering the roster. Vogel wasn't the problem and Bud wont be the solution. It's a lateral move for the Suns if no impactful player move is made and unless he manages to make a miracle Bud probably wont last more than a season.

Good luck but I think we place too many expectations on coaches and not enough on GMs in this era.
I sat through Borrego trying every single defensive coverage in the book, drop, ice, even some zone, switching, etc. just throwing **** at the wall and hoping it would stick. He tried his absolute best to find a defensive scheme that worked but at some point our personnel was just inherently too exploitable.
This is the Suns issue too.

KD will be thrilled. He now has an excuse to ask for a trade.

coaches have to take certain jobs just because of the guaranteed money.
There is no way you go into this situation not knowing you’re getting fired next May.

KD gets another HC.
Y'all talk about LeBron, this dude has got 3 HC's fired in a 4 year span.
That is WILD considering he's played for 2 franchises. At least LeBron isn't jumping ship after he gets his HC's fired.

At least they really took their time to conduct a thorough and diligent hiring process.

Re: Shams Bomb: Suns hire Mike Budenholzer
I expect this to work out to some degree. Budz above all else knows how to maximize the talents of one dimensional players/role players.
They just need to find him those role players. Right now the Suns have Allen, Little, Nurk, Roddy, and Eubanks under contract around their big 3. That's not the worst, and they'll have their FRP this year if i'm reading it right. They have shooting, they have ball handling, and they theoretically have size.
The real question is what to do with Beal, as I suppose Book is the PG going foward, with Beal at the 2. Honestly the team would be better suited with Beal in the Manu role, but that isn't happening anytime soon.
We know Allen can play in his system, but i'm curious if Roddy and Nasar are going to get any burn. Neither did this year, and both could have provided some solid athleticism.
I'm expecting a gaggle of ring chasers to flock to PHX on the cheap, and some of these guys to get traded. It just seems off putting that 3 of the 4 best players on this team are all essentially SG's that can't play the 3 or defense. Bud isn't going to just make that work, so more moves have to be around the corner.
I expect dudes like Pat Bev and PJ Tucker to find a way onto this team, and maybe that's enough.
I honestly don't think Budz is that much different than Vogul in terms of ability, so we'll see.

My prior is that unless you are firing a bottom 4 coach and or hiring a top 4 coach then coaching changes don't matter that much. The rest of the 20+ coaches in the league are pretty close together

Good hire.
Coach Bud likes coaching vets, too.
Suns are an older team.
Dont screw this one up as well, Suns!

Now the Suns need to build out their roster somehow. They have little depth
