What happened to LaMelo Ball?
Had a promising start to his career, even made the all-star team in his sophomore year (okay that doesn't really count cause any half-decent young player gets selected in the East), but can't seem to stay healthy the past two seasons.
Must be very concerning to be locked in to his guaranteed max contract salary, he is slated to earn around $41 million per season for the upcoming 5 seasons, and has only around 60 games in total over 2 seasons and it is even trending downwards.
Imagine he does turn it around later in his career, he doesn't seem the type to stay in Charlotte anyway. Can see him bolting to L.A to promote his non-basketball interests.
At least they have Grant Williams for the foreseeable future.

Re: What happened to LaMelo Ball?
The narrative from Charlotte media was that he was basically ready to go for the last couple months of the season but they didn’t feel like it was worth the risk or wanted to tank or whatever. He’s still an incredible player and if he can figure out his ankle he’ll be right back in the convo amongst the best young player players in the league

Nothing happened. When he plays he's a all-star caliber player. Check his stats this season.
The problem is he can't stay HEALTHY! Ankles are a legit problem. Hopefully he wears ankle braces like Curry did.
Oh yeah Melo>Hali

Like all the great players in the league, HE DOES NOT want to play on a team full of no names (Brandon Miller- excuse me).

He's made of glass, but when he plays he's all star level.

Re: What happened to LaMelo Ball?
He's not made of glass, he just had a bad ankle injury that was surgically repaired and then he reinjured it after stepping on someone's foot. Lamelo is 22 and will get healthy and prove the whole world wrong yet again. He had a 10 game stretch early in this past season where he averaged 30 pts 6 rebounds and 9 assists before he went down with the ankle injury even though he wasn't even 100% yet.
I have a lot of belief in Lamelo. He will be a superstar in this league.
Even Lamelo at 70% is a hell of a player, look at the game he had against the Spurs when he was limping the whole game when he tried to come back midway through the season even though his ankle wasn't right.

Re: What happened to LaMelo Ball?
High level talent in a crap team, he comes off as a bit of an airheaded jock who mainly focused on the flasby fame and money (allows him to hook up with pornstars lol), instead of super focused on improving and engaging in more winning team ball.
But all of that is moot, because he is genuinely all-star level player (with weak team), but has become injury prone like his brother. But unlike his brother he has the ability to become a top 10 player in the league if he focuses and develops fully. Health main thing holding him back. He is too talented and fun
to watch so I hope he overcomes it.

oh good argument I guess..maybe if he and his partner M.Williams played the Hornets they wouldn't stink..Ball/Miller/Bridges/G.Williams/M.Williams+Top pick 24..that's a really good core on him to be built

Only Lamelo does work hard on his game and has improved every single season he has played so far even through injuries and his team has won more with him on the court than off his entire career so far and when he did play a lot in his first two seasons his team overachieved and WON more than anyone expected them to???
More of a winner than people make him out to be.

Availability is the most important skill...what good is talent...when his brother played the Bulls led the East, I'm not sure that's any consolation to Bulls fans.

You can tell people just don't watch the Hornets.
We were down 2 of our top 4 players for most of the season. So when you take away 2 of our best players of course we are gonna suck. The fact we didn't end up with the worst record without 2 of our best players tells you we obviously aren't that bad in terms of talent.
Spurs/Washington/Detroit had their best player for most of the season. We had ours for 20 games. It's possible we are a play in team if Melo stays on the court.

I honestly wonder if their dad pushing them so hard, so young, did damage while they were still growing.
People forget how good Lonzo was. Better than 38% from 3 on high volume his last 3 years, excellent rebounder, terrific defender and a breathtaking passer in transition/full court.
The only real knock on him is an inability to draw fouls and get all the way to the hoop.

I agree on the last part. But he is waaaay too talented to not impact winning to a point. But I hold him to a super high expectations, so he could be even better. As couple of his peers have been, who taken leaps to big stardom leading their teams (Ant and Hali, both in better teams, but still). Also I see his social media presence and off the pitch stuff and is like a huge potential future red flag in general for overall picture it paints. So I hope he overcomes his injuries and focuses fully on taking his team to the next leve as the franchise player (since he is too good to be traded and has huge contract).

Re: What happened to LaMelo Ball?
He is a Tyrese Haliburton level player when he plays. The stats and impact all bear it out. Again why does everyone just memory hole the 2021-22 season where he was an all star, the team won 43 games, he led a top 5 offense and was very high in all offensive advanced stats? He has proven he’s good.
He just doesn’t play.
He needs to wear high top sneakers and ankle braces. Deep down I have concerns about his commitment to the game and his intelligence both on and off the court. Will he ever “get it” at a championship level? Who knows, but I try not to publicize those that often as he’s only 22.

Re: What happened to LaMelo Ball?
Never looked like the type of player who cared too much about winning basketball. Just looking cool and being famous.
