Looking good so far. Hornets FO finally doing normal NBA FO things.
Also, haven't paid attention to the Mazulla talk, but starting to wonder...

Damn Bud is already assembling his staff before even agreeing to the job. Can't be super helpful for Lee, who probably won't have time to do that for a month.

Boston probably would have sent us a 1st round pick to delay that announcement till after the season. Cavs smelled the Hornet stink all over em tonight.

Not super encouraged by the lack of adjustments by Boston tonight… tbf Lee was probably distracted today

To his defense, he’s not the HC. Plus, the Cavs were incredibly hot from 3.

I'd much rather have Charles Lee as my HC than Joe Mazzula lol

Great name and I like the connection to Will Hardy and Quinn Snyder.

Re: Welcome to Charlotte Charles Lee
we interviewed him for head coach. i wonder if this was lee's decision or the front office?
i do hope he adds a former head coach and at least one former player with lots of experience.

Billups would be an interesting hire if Portland cans him. Horrible HC, but he was a good PG for a long time and seems to be serious. Could be good for Melo.

Re: Welcome to Charlotte Charles Lee
One thing that connects all the big hires this off-season aside from Atlanta experience… they’re all young, former players, and black, from Peterson on down.
Now obviously I’m sure all were hired on merit first, but I think it’s smart that we have a new crop of guys who can really relate to our young roster and connect with them as role models of sorts.
I always felt like the lifelessness on court and issues like Jones and Bouknight’s was in part due to the fact that the leadership never fully connected with the players. Cliff, Triano, and Kupchak were these 60s+ white guys from an old school world. I’m not saying they didn’t connect with the players but it’s just a different relationship and dynamic. It’s clear the team quit on Cliff regularly in games. Hopefully Lee and Skeeter can bridge the gap and bring the best out of our guys.

Is top assistant the same thing as associate head coach?

Lol Bouknight and Jones were just guys with no tools nor maturity to succeed in the NBA. They would have failed under any coach.

I think this was definitely a Lee move. With the connections to Atlanta, I think the overlap with Peterson and Lee are evident. It actually makes me wonder if Lee was on board earlier and some of these interviews were for other spots.

I don’t mean the on court stuff (and obviously Borrego was coaching them as rookies)
I mean hopefully the new leaders in the locker room are going to keep a closer eye on our young players and really show them professionalism first hand. For whatever reason, Jordan, Cliff and Kupchak’s leadership clearly failed in that respect.
