Pretty much, him and Mitchel have mastered the "get the guy on your hip" and dudes just can't guard it given the current rule set of the NBA which demands shooters have space. Why they are are both going for 40 so much, they are elite shooters, so you can't guard them in space 1v1 until their is a rule change or teams learn to defend it. There isnt going to be a change so teams just need to play smarter and try new things
We saw IND do a better job tonight and the results were clear. With no OG attacking off the dribble and one less shooter in the game, Pacers were able to guard his shooting hand, collapse on his drives, and then rotate out quick to Donte and Hart. Not sure if that defense would work in a 5 out or with OG, but it mitigated Jalens ability to break his man down off the dribble tonight. Pacers rotations were absolutely incredible in this game, so with no 2ndary scorer, Brunson was just on an island
Expect to see more of it in the coming games, and Brunson needs to adjust. Quick actions with the ball starting in Harts hands would be my guess, but we'll see.
