Game 5 PG Thread: Gut Check

This is the realest. I'm a middle aged father of four and have had to go completely dark the past few days (no TV, no forum, no twitter) because I STILL get too wrapped up in this isht.

My daughter has been watching this playoff run with me and I'm scared what life Im introducing her too. Cause being a knicks fan isn't normally fun like this.

My favorite thing about my kids watching the games is that they root hard for the Knicks, but carry nothing away from the game once it's over. A bad loss and they just walk away and find the next thing to make them happy.

We can learn from them!

If history has taught anything it's that we cannot learn from them this is my relationship with the Blazers though. I'll cheer for them HARD and then they'll suck and it's like meh. These old attachments have gnarled roots though.

My oldest daughter is getting into the playoffs too. The whole thing is just neat to her but likewise no lingering attachment. It's cool the W is taking off. I'll have to show her some games this summer. She was annoyed we didn't watch any games last year.

Bro had to practice with the team and change his shot chart. He’s playing well within the system while still dribbling to the rim making things happen.

I love that there no hesitation on his shot... if we make it that far....just another weapon we can deploy vs the Celts.

My daughter on the othet hand was cheering until the end of the last game while we were down 30. Walked away smiling and was excited about the next game. What's fun about watching with her is she keeps me a lil more grounded than I would be if she wasn't around. Can't have her realizing I'm a complete lunatic.

Yeah, same. Just a completely strung out dope fiend. Hopes cause.

But like Bubb in The Wire seeing his sister's kids happy and safe in the midst of going through a personal torture trying to stay sober and knowing full well he'll fail, their happiness still resonates.

That's the truth of this - trying our best so they have it better than us. Cause nothing hits better than their wins.

I got nothing to say about this team or Thibs. I thought we were done after the last game cuz injuries were catching up to us. Should’ve never doubted their heart. Riding with these boys, bunch of fu*king dogs.

Havent seen you in a minute...I started watching this team in December again and I made the same mistake for about 6-7 games

The guy to get Burks to not be terrible is play him with Jalen Brunson. Many such cases.
