BOS/CLE

Post#1 » by kds92 » Thu May 16, 2024 4:40 am

Ridiculous proposal, but the idea is to raise (and extend) the Celtics' ceiling and get the Cavs more complementary players around Garland & Mobley if Mitchell wants to leave. Think the lineups for both teams fit a little better (on paper).

BOS In: Mitchell, Allen
BOS Out: Porzingis, White, Pritchard, 2024 1st, 2026 1st
Holiday/Mitchell/Brown/Tatum/Allen

Celtics get more perimeter scoring and more of a defensive anchor, but lose some depth and team chemistry. Don't think Mitchell would want to go to Boston, but I think he's friends with Tatum & Brown and this team gives him a better shot of winning than the Nets, Lakers, Heat, and current Cavs.

CLE In: Porzingis, White, Pritchard, 2024 BOS 1st, 2026 BOS 1st
CLE Out: Mitchell, Allen
Garland/White/Strus/Mobley/Porzingis

Cavs get a defensive-minded guard, a big that can space the floor, and two likely late 1sts they can use to upgrade the wings.

Why do the Cavs want to raise or extend the Celtics ceiling? For that matter why do they want to inherit the Celtics cap problems?

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Celtics are above the 2nd Apron, can't aggregate salaries.

There will be better offers than this out there, without throwing in Allen.

The trade is illegal, Boston can’t aggregate since the are over the 2nd apron.
