I think Reed Sheppard is going to be a real difference maker. I really hope Orlando trades up to get him.

The 2020 draft had the same thing on this board... clearly the consensus was accurate cause Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Tyrese Maxey, etc. haven't proven that wrong

Besides Mitchell and Trae, which stars are getting traded this off-season?

KD maybe, but after the Budenholzer hiring this feels like trade deadline at the earliest

Embiid if Philly busts this off-season could make some rumblings?

Might as well. I mean if #1 in this draft is basically 8-10 in a normal draft, then I think you could offer a a 2nd to get you to around 20 easily.

Yeah its crazy to me. I mean even if one really believes there is no top end talent at all in this draft(IDK, but my guess there are studs in this draft, just not the no-brainer Wemby/AD/Zion type) wouldn't having your choice of all of them be worth a lot more than having to watch 8 or 9 guys come off the board?

On that alone it makes that statement silly. I also think people put way too much stock in the ability of draft podcasters to analyze NBA talent. Because if one of these guys was correctly identifying the best players year in and year out, a team would have already hired them.

For me the draft is every team making educated gambles (ie throwing a dart blind). All I know is to me who ever drafts Jared McCain wins. With that said I predicted Poalo was a terrible 1st pick and Bassey would have a 10 year career..

It's just the spacing he dealt with when mark mitchell was on the court and to be able to shoot over 40% from 3 as a freshman.

Depends on how you define difference makers.

There will be good players in this draft class. But will there be stars, let alone superstars? There’s not a single player I can confidently say will be a star.

There is precedent for this. The 2000 draft yielded one All Star in the lottery (Kenyon Martin) and 3 collective All Star appearances.

The 2013 draft yielded one All Star in the lottery (Oladipo) and 13 collective All Star appearances, 8 of which were Giannis.

There’s no Giannis in this class.

I don’t see Joel wanting a trade or the city wanting to move him.

Think Trae and Mitchell are the only two superstars actually shopped. Butler and KD seem possible but really unlikely.

I have lived in Miami for the last four year and think the city is less committed to Jimmy as this forum seems to bank on.. But also Miami doesn’t tank is a real thing. Coming up with a Jimmy trade that makes Miami better is harder than just adding to Bam/Butler… so just keep it simple, stupid right?

But just Stars? Ingram, Murray, Lauri could all be traded… some would even say “should be”..

If Minnesota loses four in a row, maybe you do look at KAT trades really.. I think you just bank on Ant developing but maybe you panic? Or maybe you move on from Rudy and keep KAT/McD/Ant together locked up? Either have arguments, but I’d just run it back with tweaks.

Yeah you would need to turn Jimmy into Trae or Mitchell if those are the only other stars traded.

Very true. Could a Giannis come from this draft class? Sure, but I haven't seen anyone identify that potential Freak. And I'm sure that there will be some all-star appearances from this class, but I couldn't predict which one(s).

There will be plenty of talent in this draft, but it's clear that this draft isn't valued as highly as the next one based on comments from some front offices. That's going to have an effect on valuations on this board, overblown ones at times.

What is Golden State's salary implications going into this offseason? How much do they need to offload?

I think the Raptors would be very interested in Andrew Wiggins if he's on the block. A trade centered around Bruce Brown?

If they're prioritizing savings I think they can just let CP3 go and be well under the tax. Bring back Klay (or someone else) at MLE level.

Dont see Klay singing the MLE. Also, aren't the Warriors a TAx team regardless?

no they are at 144M or so w/o Klay and Paul w/ 10 spots accounted for. Ie they have about 28M left to fill 4-5 spots

Without Chris Paul they are at 144 million with 9 guys.

Stretch Looney’s 3 mil guarantee and they’re at 136 million with 8…

Feels like you have 15-16 mil for Klay and the full MLE for a big and fill the last 4 roster spots? Say Jonas as a good change of pace for Dray/TJD..

Try to pull off a Payton and 2nds for guy making 3-4 million less to get some breathing room. Or ideally you get like 2-3 roster spots filled by doing a 1 for 3-4 with GP and 2nds.

That’s a really unexciting way to end Curry’s career though and I dislike it. But it’s easy to stay under the tax and improve the roster a bit.

Think you get aggressive for another year or two run and deal with the rebuild when it comes.

Value question:

Rui Hachimura vs. Jarrett Allen.

Would either team owe additional value in a swap of these two?

Allen worth way more than Rui. Lakers owe meaningful value.
