OKC - UTA Trade

Post#1 » by rambo_ortega » Sat May 18, 2024 8:22 pm

OKC gets:
John Collins

Giddey is lost in the rotation with the rise of SGA because he can't shoot off the ball and Thunder needs to add more muscle inside but still retain their uptempo offense. Collins is at the perfect PF because he can shoot and catch lobs similar to what PJ Washington is to Dallas.

Holmgren/Collins/Williams/SGA/Joe

UTA gets:
Josh Giddey
Lu Dort

The Jazz get the perfect PG for Markannen and their offense, and a solid wing defender.

Giddey and Dort are each worth more than Collins.

OKC does need a big, but they need an upgrade, not a $27 million mediocre role player.

Once you get into how many firsts are owed here, it looks just as terrible a decision for Utah as it is for OKC.

If either team balances this, it will be a regrettable trade.

But for fun, I say it’s really 3 truly unprotected firsts? 1.5 for Giddey and 1.5 for the Collins/Dort swap? And the two 2025 Minn/cleve firsts don’t count are two of them… Maybe 2025 Minn, 2027 LAL, 2027 Cleveland? I think that’s how far off the idea is. Which obviously Utah shouldn’t do. But yeah…

(Please don’t insult PJ comparing him to John Collins)

I don’t see a reason why the Jazz would pay a decent chunk of assets to get out of John Collins contract, which is the only way that I think they can move him.

This is a Lauri Markkanen off in value.

I don't think the Jazz are interested in Giddey, I don't think OKC should trade Dort, and I don't think John Collins' deal is going to bring back much.

Though, ironically, OKC could have used Collins rebounding tonight. Presti's biggest mistake was not going after help on the boards at the deadline.

Collins has played decent in Utah but IMHO he's not a great fit next to Chet. They need Dort more John Collins IMHO. If Giddey us Dort are going they are putting together a deal for Lauri

A trade package with Dort and Giddey has a long way to go before the Jazz will send back Lauri.
