I don't value Ivey at all.
Make it Ausar, and you might be on to something.
Or if you route Ivey somewhere else for another pick.

Re: draft night. Houston/Detroit
I cannot really see a team wanting to try to continue develop both Ivey and Jalen Green at the same time. I would pass for Houston and just make my pick, trade out, or trade down for different incentive than Ivey....like what is the best pick Ivey can land and then revaluate the offer...future pick likely better to keep the asset alive.

I get not wanting Ivey, especially since you already have Green.
Ausar and 5 for 3 and change is a laugher though.

Re: draft night. Houston/Detroit
Ivey is a bad fit in Houston with Green and Whitmore so there’s no point for them and this is bad value for Detroit to jump 2 spots in a draft where no one knows how to value basically anyone from 2 to 10.
You spend real assets to jump up into a different tier. Who is Detroit taking at 3 anyways?? No one knows. There like 5 guys they might take even if they were #2. So a couple of them are guaranteed to be there at #5, and you’ll get them on a cheaper contract.

Spurs aren't giving up a projected lottery pick in '25 (or '26) in order to help the Pistons get their likely preferred target.

This is the obvious answer. If Pistons want to move up for Risacher using Ivey, Wizards are the target, not the Rockets.

Re: draft night. Houston/Detroit
SRPs are like pocket change. The odds of getting anything meaningful from them are slim.
Ausar could be DPOY someday. Not using him as a throw in. If Pistons can’t get any real value for Ivey, they are better off keeping him and hope he improves.
Already mentioned, but moving around in this draft is pointless. Pistons drafting at 5 could pick from a lot of possibilities. So trading a recent top 5 pick to move up two spots in a weak draft? Easy pass.

No for Ivey.
I am sure that the Rockets will ask about Ausur this off-season, but this framework of a trade doesn’t work.

Shouldn’t Detroit be trying to get Amen?
Cade/Amen/Ausur would be terrific at everything but shooting.

This isn't the draft to go all in on for the pistons. From #2 on, there is no clear ranking. Obviously individual teams have their favorites, but that would be really bad asset management.
And ivey doesn't fit in houston anyway.

Yea, I'm thinking the Wizards would be more interested if they don't love anyone at #2.

Clingan should be there and seems perfect for Washington.

Amen and Ausar are ironically a horrible fit together in today's NBA. One of them needs to become a shooter or you basically can't put them on the same team.

Re: draft night. Houston/Detroit
We (and no team) would give up an asset to move from 5 to 3 in this draft. The guy we would take at 3 is most likely the guy there at 5 (or at least someone from the same tier). The 44th pick and the two future second rounders don't have much sway.

I think teams will still be willing to move up in this draft lottery, but not at the typical cost associated with that type of move. If Ivey is only worth a late 1st in this draft then that would be consider on the lower end of the typical cost. If Det values him higher or can get a better than anticipated return then the odds are the move up is not going to be deemed worth it.
It would likely be a on the clock move with Det wanting the guy at 3 and has him either at top of their tier or a tier ahead. Risacher is the only guy I think might be like that for some teams. IMO I don't see a guy worth paying a ton for and would be willing to let the draft come to me.

Agreed that if there is a guy available a few spots higher who a team really wants and they consider in a different tier, and they know that player won't be available at their draft position, then there could be some movement. In this scenario, Ivey had an underwhelming second season but I'm not ready to give up on a guy who was selected at #5 himself only two years ago. If he stops getting jerked around by Monty and works on his defense then he's a much more valuable asset than that.
