I think we need to give another shot at this group. I say we sign our free agents, draft the two players and keep going

If Cleveland trades him to the Nets, he will make it very clear that he will not be signing an extension with the Nets. He wants to play for the Knicks. He does not want to play for any other team.
The Knicks are clearly his top option but i would think bkln would be his second option and if the Knicks passed on trading for him, AGAIN, he might give up on the Knicks. I also think he would be good with the Heat and Lakers if he was passed up again by the Knicks and bkln didn't get a trade done for him.
I think if the Knicks are his top option, it’s time for him to speak up. He’s not the only option for New York and the FO was proven right last time when they didn’t overpay for him. There’s a price where Mitchell makes sense (and this is coming from a guy who prefers to upgrade the forward or center spot) and there’s a point where he’s not worth it anymore.
I said the Knicks were his top option, never said he was the top option for the Knicks.

1) Extended OG 35m+ per
2) Extended I-Hart 16m+ per
3) Sign Burks to vet min
4) Sign Precious to vet min
5) Draft two 3&d 6’8 guys; one Euro stash
6) Extend Thibs for 3 more years
Run it back with everyone healthy.
iHart / Randle / OG / DDV / Brunson
Mitch / Bogs / Hart / Burks / McBride
+2-3 draftees learning on the bench
Then see what shakes out at the trade deadline.
I wonder how many starters will be left healthy for the playoffs after Thibs runs them for 40 - 45 a night throughout the regular season?!

Yep, I agree with you 100%. However, if he really likes New York and the Knicks are his top option, he’s gotta play his part to make it happen.
He got too complacent last time - he wanted the Knicks to overpay for him. Knicks are not overpaying again. This FO is much smarter.

The Brunson contract - which is the biggest bargain in the league per production - has 1 year left on it.
This upcoming season is that year.
Which means after next season he’ll sign a 50+ million contract.
A big move needs to be made now because once Anunoby is signed, combined with Randle, Jalen’s $50 million deal will all strangle the cap.
This is the year to step up and try to win in Brunson’s prime with a great contract.
The absolute worst move to do would be to simply run it back with the same exact roster. I know people don’t want to accept it but we are still not a title team even when healthy. A move needs to be made to put us into that echelon.

Karl Anthony Towns is one of the softest bigs in the game. No.
Nobody is trading 2 firsts for Mitch unless they’re heavily protected and will never convert.
We don’t need anymore brick layers like DSJ.

Re: Trades and Transactions Ideas Thread
If Mitchell signs his extension with Cavs, the Nets giving up Mikal might be more realistic. I feel like they are holding out hope they can swing a trade for DM, so that’s why they are so dead set on keeping Bridges, but if that option is exhausted then I can see them more likely to move him.
Would love to see him with this current team rather than Booker or Mitchell, would be a more ideal pairing and leaves the team less depleted.
I know the Nets and Knicks don’t do deals, but at this point if it’s beneficial for both parties they need to end this Cold War lol, One could dream lol

Randle is much better than Bridges.
Only inside the paint as a PF that can get rebounds and score but Mikal is better everywhere else. Better defender, by far obviously, and a better shooter, but we shouldn't be comparing the two who are both very different players that play different positions anyway.
I wouldn't want OG as our fulltime PF, i would want him at SF, playing some minutes at PF, with Mikal at SG and then we would just need to find a PF that could take 25 - 30 minutes a game there.
Um no. Randle is also a much better play maker, with a much better bag offensively. He can draw constant doubles and take pressure off Brunson, which Mikal cannot.
Bridges is an elite complimentary player. He is not an all nba talent like Randle.
Randle is not close to being my favorite player, but these takes are ridiculous.

Most importantly though, I really want KAT for Randle. The guy is an underrated passer and defender.

Knicks should try and swing a deal for Caruso if the Bulls make him available. He’s definitely a Thibs type player that would fit in with this squad.

Donovan, Mikal, or PG is the move. That 2 spot has to be upgraded… I’d prob even take DeMarr.

We can't afford to be stingy. Brunson was all alone in the post season. Basically AI in 01. Get that man some help. Don't let someone like Deuce or an extra pick hold up the deal.
