MPJ to the Hawks for Murray

Post#1 » by AleksandarN » Tue May 21, 2024 12:20 am

Since Trae and MPJ are best buds what about MPJ and Nadji plus a pick and two swaps for Murray and Bogy? The Hawks get younger the Nuggets get more depth and ball handling.

So a seriously negative value player for a positive value player?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

That's a relatively easy fix if you take out Nnaji and modify the Hawks' outgoing accordingly. But the value mismatch is still there.

They can if kcp ops out they go under the second apron. Also I think if they do a trade before July 1st they are still under the second apron.

Kinda burying the lede here. Losing KCP makes this a whole different calculus for Denver.

Yeah that’s why you get you Murray to replace kcp and have added backup with bogy or start him while you wait for Braun and Watson to develop. The Nuggets are in a pivotal moment this off season

DEnver losing KCP but Atlanta not getting him feels like a way to just suck value out a deal in a way that harms both teams. Atlanta clearly passes on a straight swap here.

The deal seems pretty awful in terms of value for the Hawks. I'd rate Murray as being quite a bit more valuable than MPJ and Bogdanovic still has a little positive value.

Seems great for Denver. For Atlanta, it does not.
