Magic Interested In D'Angelo Russell

The Orlando Magic have interest in signing D'Angelo Russell this offseason, sources tell Kelly Iko of The Athletic.

Russell has an $18.7 million player option for the 24-25 season with the Los Angeles Lakers that he is expected to decline.

Russell outperformed expectations with the Lakers this past season and would give the Magic a point guard capable of playing off the ball as a spot-up shooter.

I wonder how much draft compensation the Lakers would have to include to S&T for Wendell Carter and Jalen Suggs?

Magic are not interested in Russell and certainly would not trade a starting center and a part of their core for Russell. He is a free agent and the Magic have the money to sign him outright. Suggs is an elite defender and turning into a good offensive player. He shot almost 40% from 3 last year.

LOL, there is no reason for the magic to do a sign and trade, they can just sign Russel, which i doubt they even want, let alone give up to starters for him :crazy:

Yeah, fully understand he's not out there as trade bait. This is why I pondered how many 1st or 2nd round picks before it's even a conversation.

Orlando has a budding star that buys into the team concepts and wants to win. Orlando isn't going to be doing trades for picks 5 years down the road.

and I expect Orlando to be linked to every free agent this offseason with the amount of cap space they have, whether they really want those players or not

Remember when all media pundits, Woj included, were "sure" the Magic were picking Jalen Smith Jr?

Media will be throwing a lot at the wall when the Magic have as much cap space to spend.
