I watched the game and didn't think JT was anything special. Would probably blame him had JB missed that corner three. Then you look at the boxscore and he has 36/12/4/3* and game-high +20.

*Only Lebron, Paul George, and Hakeem have matched/exceeded those numbers in a conference finals game.

They shot 54% from the field and Boston shot poorly from 3 and they still lost the game. They just don’t have the defensive personnel to hang with the Celtics.

And if we keep playing defense like it's preseason, they will keep shooting well from the field.

They shot like 67% from 2 on a steady diet of mid range shots if you think that’s sustainable we are losing in 5 games. Not even Spo black Magic is that effective. Obviously the Celtics defense needs to be better and it was really good in OT.

Are you expecting 30+ points? He's not getting shots or involved in the offense enough. That's on Mazzulla. White had some boneheaded plays but his defense was elite and the offense flowed through him for the biggest possessions in OT. This offense becomes stalled when they let the Jays ISO too much. The key to winning in crunch time is getting high quality looks consistently, not fadeaway ISOs.

Agree on JB’s free throws but he did hit both late in the 4th quarter

Need to give Tillman a run…. Everyone crowns Brad this year but we failed to have a backup plan at the 5. Big Al can’t keep going at this pace

They're the best shooting team from midrange on good volume all season. They won't mind those shots if we keep surrendering them.

Had JB not forced that turnover and hit that three, Tatum would be getting ROASTED by the media for that fourth quarter. And rightly so.

A lot of that was PP and Hauser. They both need bounce back games

If I were going to overreact to this game, I’d try Oshae in Sam’s spot in game 2. I think I’d regret it, but Sam wasn’t a factor offensively and the Cs seemed flat defensively, and like a plus athlete could help against Toppin.

Sam has earned his role though, and played it well, and could well go 4-for-6 from 3 in game 2, so this isn’t really much of a suggestion.

Anyway, whatever that was, it wasn't nearly good enough. Glad we escaped but that's not gonna win you any titles. Pacers would sure love to have that last minute of regulation back.

Celtics did everything they could to keeo this close and not put it away. Defense was the problem, letting the Pacers shoot 53.5% overall (both teams took 99 shots but the Pacers had 6 more makes). The Celtics were saved by getting 20 more Free Throws. I don't think that the Celtics can count on Indiana making 7 more Turnovers next time. Tatum and Holiday played 1rst Team All NBA. Brown played like an All-Star. White was solid and Al gave a nice performance considering his age.

An Alternative View:

Pts. + Rebounds + (0.5*Assists) + Steals +(0.5*Blocks) - Missed Field Goals - (0.5*Missed Free Throws) - Turnovers - (0.5*Fouls)

+32 Jayson Tatum 45 minutes
+30.5 Jrue Holiday 48 minutes

+23 Jaylen Brown 41 minutes

+17.5 Derrick White 41 minutes

+12.5 Al Horford 39 minutes
+9.5 Luke Kornet 13 minutes
+7.5 Payton Pritchard 23 minutes

-2 Sam Hauser 9 minutes

Team Total = 128

Jaylen's three sent it to OT but he was 1-4 in the 4th with some bad turnovers and defensive lapses. It's not like he was any better than Tatum in the 4th. A lot of our guys had their really bad moments but also good moments.

tatum's statline is unreal for how poorly he played on offense. he was very good defensively most of the night but that 4th quarter was really, really bad

If they shot they’re average the game would have been a blowout.

Yeah it's not a good matchup for Kornet. The pace is too fast..and the pacers really spread the floor with 5 guys who can all shoot.

Not a good recipe for Kornet success.

Hope to see Tillman with that bulky body and quick feet out there in game 2. Of course, condolences to him and his fam - hope he's doing okay.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

At the end of the day, this game is not close if not for our bench so I feel good about the series. Our guys are well rested, time for them to play big boy minutes

Obviously, but they could have done more, especially knowing how fragile Zinger has been
