If Mitchell declines extension... making a deal to one of his preferred destinations as simple and straightforward as possible.
Simmons + Thomas + Phoenix FRPs (25-27-29) + 27 FRP (PHI), for
Mitchell + Niang + 26 FRP (worst of CLE, MIN, UTA—to satisfy Stepien rule)
Nets = Cavs: Four Players, Five Picks

It's the same as the other Mitchell deal for me. He's an expiring and shouldn't be thought of as if he isn't. On no planet should the Nets be trading three unprotected picks for him. It's bad team-building strategy and at some point the Nets will have to figure that out.

THeoretically and imo the most likely outcome, if Jazz had the best 2026 FRP, followed by CLE then MINN prior to any swaps, then technically CLE wouldn't be sending out the worst of the 3

Top ten players, which Mitchell clearly was this season, are a scarce resource worth chasiAnd in this kind of scenario, I expect that the Cavs would grant access to Donovan for extend and trade discussions.

True. Worst of the three is just the worst case scenario... highly unlikely.

No chance here. This is a rebuilding trade, send those picks and players to a third team for win now pieces.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

It is my understanding that extend and trades are legal under the new CBA.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

This would be a massive overpay by the Nets. It would ruin their entire franchise. get the GM fired, have the owner questioned by every other owner in the league, and would cause CHAOS.
THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN.

Deal lacks reasons for any team. Feel free to re-post with reasons given.
