you dont bid against yourself.

remember, the nets dont have to trade mikal

at some point offering them X number of picks becomes so expensive that we are better off taking that offer for mikal and going elsewhere for a bigger improvement.

That’s why we “overpay”

If we really want him, of course

Which one of those picks will be any good? All of ours should be in the twenties and all the other teams are protected, and our rotation is pretty much set, what are those draft picks going to do besides take up cap room?

Who else we gunna get? Not only that, but you see how Jalen, Hart, and Donte all have career years playing together and the impact they have together on the court right? You don’t think adding Mikal would have an even greater impact? The whole is greater than the sum of its parts in this case.

We need to strike now. The window is open now and I don't think there's gonna be another very good to great player available that fits seamlessly with the squad. Plus, those picks are gonna expire soon so we need to use them for something now.

The other alternative is smaller trades for players who aren't as good but fit with the team (ex. Caruso).

Wow this is the same bad argument that had posters clamoring to overpay for Donovan Mitchell. If it's too expensive, move on.

Why not trade for Mikal (or someone else at the 2) if he/they were available tho?

What if we get another Randle injury like we did the past 2 years? We don’t have time to waste like that. Plus factor in the cap restraints that we’re going to be experiencing soon with all the extensions and re-signings.

I’m not good with just running it back. Not after injuries killed us twice already in the PO.

Mitch, McBride, one or two picks for Mikal is as far as I'd go.

Then you turn around and use Precious and draft picks in a S&T for Caruso.

Huge defensive upgrades to combat Boston and other contenders next playoff season.

We won’t get Bridges directly from Brooklyn. It’s going to take a 3-team trade to get it done. We have to find a team looking to unload a player for draft picks and send that player to Brooklyn. Portland would be an ideal 3rd team

A proposed 3 team trade

Bkn gets Anfernee Simons
NY gets Mikal Bridges
Por gets Bojan and draft picks

You could swap Simons with Ayton but would need to add more outgoing salary. But the key will be finding a 3rd team

3) Then CLE has to get and weigh the best offers. They're going to want to be a young "win now" team like ORL so they'll want young vets and some picks that can help them now.

We can step in with: Mitch, Bogs, McBride, rights to Rokas, and 2024 #25, MIL 1st, DET 1st, NYK 1st Rounders, and a pick swap. It's not a "nothing" package. There's some legit NBA players there and plenty of picks that they can use to get more talent later.

And then, Houston swoops in and offers Green, Eason and 3 Nets firsts and gets him.

and then he's a ufa

I think Houston is getting Mitchell. He would resign there

That’s poor reasoning. We are very good with late picks. We’ve made good trades with late picks. One of them became Josh Hart. We’ve taken one of those late picks, IQ, and gotten OG with him. We replaced him with McBride, who is on an awesome contract and might be the next guy moved.

This doesn’t mean you just hoard them. The Knicks have often traded down, traded out, etc. But it does mean that you can’t trade them all for effin Mikal and then say “meh, late picks mean nothing” so let’s just trade them for Mikal.

Trade Sims and some picks for Tari Eason and get budget OG/Mikal and tell the two overpriced 3&D role players to kick bricks

How about all 3 on our roster instead? Our defense would be down right sexual.
